Summed it up just great. I loved the story but there were points where I just REALLY hated the game and wanted it to be over.
So is this like a rebrand after the company fired him?
I assume that “yellow static background” was identified as a part of the IP of ZP that The Escapist still owns, hence why the background is red in the static thumbnail and changes over throughout the video.
I’m actually shocked this is considered legally distinct enough that he can get away with it, but then again Escapist ownership is probably too lazy to even try to do anything about it anyway.
I haven’t seen ZP in some years and he actually has some pretty sharp and accurate game criticism huh
The eyes were really weird and I didn’t like how they looked. I’m guessing it’s part of the licensing of ZP that they can’t use the little black circle eyes anymore? Same with not having him sit at a small desk in the corner of the screen? And not having a static, solid color background? The quality was otherwise great and I hope things go well. But they eyes are worse and the background was distracting.
Crazy turn-around time, and I am super stoked they will keep going with these reviews in this format.
Does this mean the swears are back for people who don’t pay a premium?
I have all the respect in the world for Yahtzee choosing to stay with his support team after they were fired. He could have stayed with ZP, kept making quality content, and receiving a paycheck for the rest of his life and no one would have admonished him for it…. Stability and comfort are hard to walk away from, especially when you are not being hurt.
Mr. Crowshaw, thank you for being a positive force in this dumpster fire world.

Never thought i’d have to say it, but seeing Yahtzee with clothes on is weird
I never really got into Zero Punctuation, but god is it funny to see the Escapist’s entire video team just do the Homer Simpson into the hedge and come back out in red. Upper management greed backfiring spectacularly will never not be funny.
This proves that the Escapist were only holding Yahtzee and Nick back.
Love that they barely touched the format and just made the necessary art changes to avoid copyright. These reviews have been going on for what? 15 years now with absolutely zero drop in writing quality? This one in particular was hilarious, as much as I loved the game myself.
Really glad the entire team for this and other former Escapist projects stuck together and just transplanted what they do. Hopefully it’s a success story.
