Many years ago I went through security at Gatwick with her. She was tiny. Really nice lady who sang along to her song when one of the workers put it on.
As a recovering addict myself, I don’t think it’s about people that should have helped her or done something. I had to help myself. I’ve been sober now for over 15 years. When I look back, I realize that I was not concerned at all about the future. RIP Amy Winehouse.
Saw her in Selfridges London once. She was alone, maybe with minders but I didn’t see them. She was browsing art supplies, colouring pencils, paints, markers etc. she looked like a little girl who was being hunted. No joke. Just wanted to buy some art supplies and the aura of a fox on the run from the men on horses. I felt it from across the room
I was a serious, serious IV heroin addict (and IV cocaine, and IV crystal meth), and alcoholic at the same time she was struggling, and I was an alternative model at the time aswell, doing a ton of rockabilly shoots, and her story resonated so much with me. I was very, very close to being a part of the 27 club right along with her. I technically am, but they brought me back after 4 minutes, and I have been clean ever since. I’m coming up on 9.5 years clean, and these pictures really made me think about the entire other life I already lived that no one in my life now could ever even dream of understanding. RIP Amy. You were one of the greats, and you deserved so much better than anyone ever gave you. ❤️
