The look on Chuck Berry’s face is priceless!
This slays me every time. I don’t know how they held it together…
i’m looosing you lmao
Who’s strangling the cat?
Obligatory bill burr commentary?
I’ve seen this clip before I think, or a similar one and one of the sound engineers cut her mic after a short time so it didn’t get on the recording. Kind of a dick move but in this case, give the dude a medal. I like to think I respect everybody’s art, but damn, the phrase caterwauling comes to mind. It’s so out of sync with what everybody else is doing. You can tell she trying to find the grove but it just doesn’t fit.
Didn’t a crewmember cut her mike?
Ah yes, the not-so-great gig in the sky
Just remember that this is a heavily edited (but funny) clip that misrepresents what was seen on the original broadcast. Some may miss the added context text on the Twitter post.
There is a version that was mixed with her mic cut. Some audio tech knew he had to do God’s work and cut her mix and the recorder.
The Bill Burr commentary about this incident is gold
This video always comes up like Lennon had no clue what was going on and she ruined his performance.
Lennon loved Ono and her art otherwise she wouldn’t have been on the stage. This is a Lennon and Ono performance piece featuring Chuck Berry.
i just wanna know what compels someone to do this, thinking they’re adding to the experience. or for that matter, why someone would allow their SO to make a complete fool of themselves on stage like this.
I’m actually a fan of a lot of her solo work, but she has never worked in this context. She was an avant-garde artist, especially back then, and pop wasn’t her forte.
