Idk if I would ever recommend a switch lite to someone if any other switch model is on the table. The screen is tiny, and with the notorious reputation of Joy Cons to experience stick drift, at least with a switch base or OLED, you can buy new joycons when the old ones break. What do you do if the Switch Lite joycons start to drift?
The cons on the PS Portal side that don’t matter:
* “Requires a PS5 console” – everyone looking at a PS Portal already has a PS5
* “Only works with Sony’s PlayStation Link compatible headphones” – anyone who has a PS5 likely already has headphones that work for it.
* “Doesn’t have bluetooth” – you don’t need bluetooth if you are using your existing PS headsets, headphones, or audio devices.
**The PS Portal isn’t an independent console, so it is intentionally ignorant to consider it and compare it as such. It’s a streaming device.**
If someone *already* has a PS5, they already have games to play on the PS Portal, and *likely* all the necessary subscriptions and accessories. With a Switch Lite, there’s then the additional cost of buying games.
I thought the whole point of not liking a product was to not purchase it, why are so many people ranting about the damn thing 😂. I don’t want it either but it’s existence isn’t hurting my soul.
Connecting to the same wifi network doesn’t require an online connection. Also the switch’s didn’t work with Bluetooth audio, so pretty much only controllers, for over 4 years.
Weird that you don’t see a $200 PS5 or Xbox controller compared to a switch. This is a $200 controller with a fucking screen on it, it doesn’t seem that wild or priced way above where it should be to me.
The switch is made to travel with you, the PS is made to use at home away from your TV. Take it with you to the bathroom, or keep your game going for awhile at night in bed. Hid away in your man cave or She Shed from the kids.
Folks this is a product for people like me with money and kids. My kids want to watch cartoons all the damn time and I need to be around them. I’m not buying a switch with sht graphics. That being said, I may wait for switch 2. Then I would agree with post.
I like the dual sense controller, like the big screen option. And it’s good for people that only have one tv and want to game. What’s the problem with that?
They aren’t even the same thing, you literally can’t compare them. One is a handheld console, the other is effectively a monitor extension that happens to be handheld.
IDK why we’re comparing a console to not-a-console.
These aren’t meant to compete with each other.

Man this sub gets fixated on the latest thing to shit on.

Don’t like it don’t buy it.
It’s going for the niche of people who want to play the PS console they have already but their family takes over the tv.
With a Switch, you’d have to buy the games too.
And it’s cheaper than a steamdeck/ ROG ally.
The portal looks super useful. I don’t need to hog the TV and doing remote play to my PC isn’t the same as being on the couch.
“Why would I buy pepper when salt is the same price and I can do more with it!”
Makes sense to me 🙄
Some people get to upset when their not the target audience.
Can play God of War. Can play Spider-Man games. Can play Elden Ring…….. solved. Bring on the downvotes.
I don’t know where this mythical 5-7 hour Switch battery life is, I’ve never seen it go past like 2 or maaaaybe 3 ever since I bought one 5 years ago.
$200 dollars optional accesory, and yet some people have it on their mind rent free 24/7 lmao
Saying that the Switch works with wireless headphones is generous as fuck. The audio delay is absolutely insane.
Not getting it, but also not bothered by it. It’ll appeal to some, just not myself.
Yeah OP a 12yr old.
Reddit when thing has niche appeal
I could do negatives for the switch too.
❌ can’t play ps5 games
❌ requires you to buy new games to play
❌ can’t stream games to it
❌ can’t do 1080p
❌ low quality joysticks and buttons
See how that works? It’s almost like they serve entirely different purposes
They are to serve different purposes.

Don’t wanna be that guy but putting an X next to something usually signals that it DOESN’T have that. 0/5 picture.
If you want high quality mobile gaming just get a Steam Deck.
God this sub is so cringe
Before this came out, I really didn’t know how many people have Sony living rent-free inside their head.
Psst, OP, red Xs in side-by-side comparisons means “does not”.

Edit: punctuation
Stop making us Switch fans look fucking dumb. They’re both for very different demographics if you even know what that means.
This guy is doing the checks and x’s wrong for the ps5
I’m never buying a Portal, but you’ve totally missed the part where it plays PS5 games instead of Nintendo games.
Which one plays Spiderman 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Armored Core 6, FFXVI and Alan Wake 2?
These rage bait comparison pics are hilarious.
Switch has 5 to 7 hour battery life? Yeah in the main menu.
What a stupid post.
