When I went to Islay we tried to camp on the beach, but the wind ripped our tent, so we had to walk about 8 miles (much of it cross-country, as I recall) in the dark, to safety. I honestly thought I might die.
Also the ferry over was a really rough crossing (‘pitching and yawing’ is the technical term AFAIK), and even the sailors were puking, but I was laughing my head off like it was a fairground ride.
