protesting is a way to wrangle people into a corral. many people who protest have been declared mentally incompetent, just by showing up, which was the plan all along. Drug companies and for profit prisons love protesters.
what happened to the Occupy movement? the answer is that many of the people were declared mentally incompetent, and are now mental health cash cows for the system they tried to fight.
Given how a lot of people reacted to climate activists getting on every major news channel in the Western world by throwing soup on a piece of glass covering some art, causing about $0 in damages, I’m not sure they’re ready to hear about what effective protest is really like.
There’s still a lot of ignorance and “I agree with them, but they cause inconvenience so they’re bad” kind of nonsense.
They forget that MLK blocked traffic. The Boston Tea Party destroyed private property. They resisted arrest at Stonewall, like throwing a brick at a cop.
Show me a protest that doesn’t piss people off or make them uncomfortable and I’ll show you a protest that probably didn’t change anything.

Protesting and the right to do it are VITAL to any democracy.
I am however strongly against protests that block roads. I believe the procedure should be anyone who blocks a road gets swiftly removed by police
