Principles are awesome and I can respect him BUT 28 million !
“I’ve been dealt a hand of cards that aren’t the best, and I’m proud of the way I played them.”
If you don’t take anything else away from this video, take those words and move forward.
Conan is fucking hilarious. Legendary late night host.
he’s definitely a smart man. easily in the quasi-genius IQ range.
Conan’s podcast episode with Kevin Nealon is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Those two are perfect for each other.

This exact video was posted 3 hours before OP posted, yet this one is the one thats gaining traction.
Totally made the right choice but people forget Simpsons is a Fox show. (but that was then, this is now)
I think if anything Conan should be remembered for how loyal he is. Even after getting shafted by NBC over the Tonight Show he still chose to keep his staff and pay them accordingly to move out to LA and essentially uproot their lives from NYC. So I get that he would turn down Fox because he couldn’t keep his body of work and more importantly have to let staff go because of the change.
Why is this marked as not safe?
Howard Stern is so insufferable. He barely lets people talk. He might as well just interview himself.

I have absolutely no idea what this tells us about Reddit.
Is that the guy from Death Stranding?
In an awesome parallel universe Conan would have had The Tonight Show and Craig Ferguson would have had The Late Show. Two of the best interviewers, hands down.
Lol they couldn’t have found a better camera angle for Howard in this clip?
Letterman’s take on the situation was great, too:

“I hope you’re not thinking of blaming Conan!”
Team CoCo till I die
Obligatory fuck Jay Leno
What does he mean by not having access to his body of work if he changed networks? I would have thought he doesn’t “own” any of his talk shows even if he stayed? Or would it be that he couldn’t use or reference any of his own format/material from a previous network if he changed?
I’m so out of the loop, I didn’t even know Conan didn’t have a show anymore.
Conebone69 is the only host that ever made me feel tingly inside. In a good way
They did my boy wrong. One of the best. One day he will get the last laugh.
Conan’s biggest legacy is the Simpson’s monorail episode! One of the best!
I’ve been a fan of Conan for a long time. He’s genuinely funny and talented, and very obviously a caring and thoughtful human. Jay Leno, OTOH, is just a chubby old guy with a funny voice and a car collection. I don’t wish Leno any ill will, but he doesn’t have a funny bone in him.
How can you not love Conan 🙂
For my generation, when he goes, Conan will be missed to a degree that has not yet been understood. He is one of your friends, and he is you, and his work and his humor pervades all of our lives in a way we will never truly be able to appreciate.
that fucking abysmal camera angle on Howard Stern lmao
And to this day, we still have Jimmy Fallon. I will never understand that casting choice.
But maybe he dodged a bullet. I used to love Stephen Colbert, but as host of The Late Show, I just find him vanilla and boring. I would like to believe that Conan would have stayed Conan heading The Tonight Show, but it’s probably more likely NBC would have crushed his soul… or he would have left.
I miss Craig Ferguson so much.
I met Conan during the tour after he lost the tonight show and it made me like him even more. He wasn’t the zany TV personality I’d come to know but he was extremely gracious in talking to me and my friends and even kind of hooked us up with some backstage stuff.
After watching the doc you could tell he was super stressed and for him to do all that shows what kind of person he is, I’ll always be a fan.
As a fan of Conan since 95 it still astounds me that someone like Jimmy Fallon took his spot. Conan is and continues to be one of the most likable, sincere, genuinely hilarious people around and it’s a crime at how it all played out with the Tonight Show.
Conan is the best of those guys by far.
Body of work? I’ll say. Freakishly large, silly, goofy body of work.
Love this man.
I think the true villain is NBC. Conan went to NBC with the Fox offer, and NBC goes and promises him Leno’s job. I don’t know what they promised Leno but he’s obviously a workaholic and wouldn’t have gone willingly. He probably wasn’t very happy to be asked to leave. But he actually did leave. The changeover happens and NBC undercuts Conan with an early talk show to try to save money and then pulls the plug after a short period.
YOOO what happen to robin!?!?!?
Norm McDonald bringing him a late welcome gift after he lost the show was legendary.
Conan rules
I had the luck to work for him while he was at NBC. He and Andy both are stand up guys.
Truly some life-changing words
none of the late night hosts we have now are as funny and as good at hosting as Conan.
Jay Leno sucks ass. He was an alright stand up but his show was always lame as fuck.
