Say what you will about the Soprano’s, the writing was top notch.
The episode where Tony plays Mario cart with AJ exemplifies this, when Tony is talking to AJ about the characters they can play as, and when the show actually depicts the game, it’s accurate to how the game is.
If they were lazy writers they wouldn’t have gone the extra step to make sure those minor details were accurate, minutiae like that just added an extra layer of realism to the series, that I feel other shows on a balance fail to achieve, to the detriment of the audience immersion.
