Lights on already? Blimey bit early innit? I’m adamant they don’t switch the lights on in my town till we have snow, so probably around April next year I reckon

OK, genuine question. Why is it that people think that saturated colours like this are what the real scene actually looked like? Why do people even take them, come to that? Yes, the result is striking – but every time I see a photograph like this of somewhere I know, my first reaction is, “Yeah, but it’s not remotely like that…”

England (and the UK) are dotted with a hundred of beautiful towns that look like this (especially pretty around the holidays). I’m lucky to live in one, and incidentally, my wife’s family is from Whitby. As an American, the cobbled streets and hundreds-of-years-old quant shops never get old
For some trivia, Whitby is where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula. It’s a bit of a goth mecca. Good fish and chips as well.
