Where The Wind Blows Trailer – Hong Kong movie starring Tony Leung and Aaron Kwok

  • Movie is set in 1960s-70s Hong Kong, focusing in particular on four detective sergeants considered amongst the most powerful and corrupt police officers at the time in Lui Lok (Aaron Kwok), Nam Kong (Tony Leung), Hon Sam (Michael Chow) and Ngan Hung (Patrick Tam). Hong Kong has done plenty of films centered on them or including them over the years, such as Lee Rock (1991), Powerful Four (1992), Arrest the Restless (1992) and Chasing the Dragon (2017).

A funny bit of trivia: Aaron Kwok played Lui Lok’s (Andy Lau) fictional ICAC investigator son in the Lee Rock movies and now gets to play Lui himself. It’s also Kwok and Leung’s first collaboration since the 1988 Hong Kong television drama Everybody’s Somebody’s Favourite.

  • This one has been sitting for a while; filming commenced in November 2017 and was completed in March 2018, yet a long battle with Mainland China censors has led it to be shelved to this day. This was also meant to premiere at last year’s HK International Film Festival, before getting canned due to aformented censorship issues and finally premiering at this year’s HK Film Festival. It’s good that a trailer has finally been made public, although the lack of a release date still sucks.
