When you work in retail in December.

  • Maybe because I was young and I knew I wasnt going to spend my career in retail, but I didn’t mind it. More fun to be busy than bored. My coworkers were pretty, and I made some long term acquaintances.

Even the 18 songs they played on repeat weren’t that bad. One was hilarious, some were fun, but yeah about half of them were pretty awful by December 26th.

Just remembered, I was only working sub 30 hours a week. Cant imagine being a store manager and working 80 hours/week with those 18 songs.

Side note: While I probably made less than $10,000 during the 2 years I worked there. When I interviewed for my first ‘serious’ job, I was asked quite a bit about my first job, despite there being almost 0 overlap. That first serious job was my ticket to a great career in my field.

  • I’m back in retail, honestly at 42 just there for the paycheck it’s not bad. I don’t care about my co-workers drama , if a customer is a jerk, well their life must really suck if this is the only way they can feel good about themselves.

  • I’ll never forget those fraudsters that would buy 40 of something while it’s on special then return them all for the non-special price 1-2 weeks later as a refund. They got away with it because of shit management that would not stand by policy and corporate’s refusal to update their point of sales systems.

Then comes new years all the gift card fraudsters that want the money taken off the gift card and returned to their bank card. Nope not happening.
