What’s Everyone’s Thoughts on the Darksiders Series?

[ad_1]

I am not really too familiar with these games from the little bits I’ve seen of them they actually seem like fun games. Why doesn’t anyone talk about them anymore?

  • The first one is fun, but in gameplay feels kinda like a watered down Legend Of Zelda, which I didn’t see coming.

Darksiders 2 is amazing…for most of it. You can sorta tell the budget ran out or something during production, because it kinda falls apart in the last third, with shooter sections that are kinda bland and don’t really fit the rest of the game.

  • 1st one: Hells yea.

    2nd one: Hells yea

3rd one: could be better, but not bad all things considered.

    haven’t played Genesis.

Would pay to see Darksiders 4; Strife and finally Darksiders 5: The Seventh Seal

  • I love this series. Played everything, 1/2/3 and Genesis. Had all of them 100% on Steam.

1 & 2 are more Hack’n’Slash oriented, though 3 is more like a soulslike thing they tried out. Genesis is a topdown view action game that you can enjoy with a friend.

Enjoyed the lore as a whole but each game have some gripes that can turn people away from. Like my boy Samael used to say: “*Flawed casts from a perfect mold”*. I believe the series suffered from behind the scenes things with the publisher/devs.

1~3 tells the story of one of the four horsemen each, with 1/2 leading to the same moment, while 3 is a little bit behind of the events. Genesis is like a prequel to these same events.

I’d love to see a DS4 with Strife, but sadly I don’t believe thats happening anytime soon.

  • Love it. It’s a flawed series, but every game is flawed in some way. I’d be curious to retry 3 since they apparently retooled the combat and you can now play it in a more hack and slash way rather than a slower soulsy way? Idk I haven’t tried it. And genesis is great.

Also, I think the original version of 2 is better than the deathinitive version. I encountered way more bugs with deathinitive and the visuals may have been more advanced but they didn’t look as good.

  • I never followed them too too closely but did they stick to their plan of making 4 games, each one about a different member of the four horsemen of the apocalypse? If so and they are all finished then I’d play them. That sounds like a dope story to span a series

  • One was your pure hack and slash like devil may cry, only not as good gameplay wiss. But I enjoyed it.

2 was really good, and had a zelda thing going for it. Enjoyed it as well.

Never played any of the others.

  • 1st one was fun but felt very clunky to play the last time I tried to replay it.

2nd one was alright but I wasn’t a fan of them making it a looter and it was a buggy mess when it came out.

  • I always really enjoyed them, the first two are great and while I didn’t like the third as much, it’s still a lot of fun.

I’ve always loved that style of action adventure game and its something we just don’t get enough of anymore. I’d love to see them make another one in a similar vein to the first two.

  • Darksiders are very well executed games that basically go “what is the popular thing? We will make our game plateform around that” darksiders 3 with darksouls for example. They lore is decent. You won’t regret playing them but if someone ever said they are their favourite series ever I would question their taste. Solid 7/10

  • I’ve only played 3. I only have found memories but very limited memory. If I could give a rating this many years down the line, maybe a 6/7? Slightly above average / Above average game. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but I’m happy I did play it

  • Never got into them, even though I own them somehow (1 & 2, games with gold maybe? I dunno) wonder why I didn’t like them. could be that it was easy, or the art style was too cartoony/dated? I still don’t know. If I played this game back in the PS2 Era, I probably would have liked it.

  • One of my favorite game series of all times, both gameplay and story are just amazing in all three of the main games. I played the first two as a kid and really liked them. Years later I discovered the third one and got completely obsessed with it too. Then I replayed the first one as an adult, and it was just as amazing as I remembered.

Still got to find time to replay the second one, and convince my partner to tackle Genesis which I preordered the day I learnt about it, but never played it properly.

    Really hope for continuation.

  • I really enjoy them for what they are. I like that each one is different. Each one has its own spirit and plays different than any other entry. The story is interesting, many of the characters are decent to great and the art direction is fantastic.

Great games. They’re no AAA quality experience, but they’re good all the same.

  • The original was decent, the sequel is one of my favorite games ever. It’s just such a great action/RPG on every level, honestly.

Then after THQ went down, Nordic snapped up the IP and immediately wrecked it by giving it to a no-name studio and that’s that.

  • One of the most under appreciated series in my opinion. 1 & 2 were fantastic. 3 was good but not the same. Genesis was an awesome over the top shooter as well.

Highly recommend playing through the entire series for anyone even remotely interested. One can only hope Darksiders 4 is on the way.

  • I love this series. Far from perfect, but I have greatly enjoyed each game so far.

I think the biggest feather in the franchise’s cap is the style and flair of the series. It’s such a cool aesthetic and interesting lore/world. The base concept of playing as Horsemen of the Apocalypse is also really dope.

**Darksiders** is a blast, if a little clunky now. Blend of God of War hack n slash with Zelda-style dungeons. Fantastic intro point for the series, an absolutely awesome ending that I’m still waiting for payoff on.

**Darksiders 2** is also pretty fun. The combat returns with an overworked and Prince of Persia feeling platforming. More weapon variation, skill tree gave some play-style variations. Introduces the world/cosmos at large and expands the scope of the series. Not amazing, but pretty good.

**Darksiders 3** is the worst of them, but still fun. Closer to Dark Souls in presentation, had a lot of cool ideas for the different weapon forms and powers but they never quite fit, even though the transforming weapon is absolutely awesome in aesthetic and design. The 7 Deadly Sins are enjoyable bosses with cool designs, especially Sloth and Gluttony. Lust was a phenomenal, non-sexualized take on lust that I can’t praise enough.

**Darksiders: Genesis** is the most different from the others as a Diablo style game, but it works. Playing as both Strife and War was more fun then either of them alone, and co-op was fun as hell on higher difficulty. As a prequel it does it’s job well tying into the beginning of the others. And also, the finale had our first real interaction with Lucifer, who is set up as the series Big Bad and it’s one of my favorite takes.

I would love a final game that brings the promise of the 1st game’s ending, playing with all 4 Horsemen, to close out the series. I’ll buy it without a second thought.
