Most recently, Dave the Diver. Or any cozy game honestly. Often really like cozy games during the first playthrough, but the rampup is usually too long and the pacing is usually too (deliberately) slow for me to go around again.
What remains of Edith Finch, you just can’t get the same feeling of experiencing it the first time….
(or maybe most story driven game for me ngl but this stands out the most in my mind)
Kingdom Hearts, at least not to max level, getting the Ultima Weapon, and beating every boss like I did. That took a while, mate. If I even play it again, it will be a more casual playthrough, I ain’t grinding all of that again, and I sure as hell ain’t fighting Sephiroth again.
The last of us 2. Phenomenal game and easily one of the most technically impressive and satisfying games I’ve ever played. But you’d have to put a gun to my head for me to go through that depression simulator again.
I’m still waiting for whatever multiplayer mode is supposed to be coming so I can play that game again without feeling awful.
Celeste. The game is great, I still listen to the music, and I’ll watch gameplay videos, but playing it myself triggers terrible memories, id rather move past.
Firewatch will never get the same feeling I did the first time I played was a cold winter night. There was no power from the snow storm, played it a TV and Xbox powered by a generator
Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. They all have a very bittersweet ending that i never want to experience ever again. Especially SotC. Incredible games ..
BioShock 1. An absolutely incredible game and one of my all time favorites but when you know all the twists and jumpscares the experience just isn’t the same.
**Plague Tale: Innocence.** Had no idea what it was when I got it for 60% off 100%ed it in a week and loved the story and characters, Never wanna touch it again, not even sure I wanna play the sequel as I’ve seen very mixed reviews.
Playing God of War a second or third time won’t change anything. I know the story and there’s little to offer in terms of new ways to play.
I’m almost done with my second playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 and coming up with plans for my third time through though. There’s just so much to see, do and explore you can’t do it all in just one playthrough.
I loved it but I think it lost the pacing in act 3, just wanted it to end honestly. The last 30 hours felt like a chore. If I decide to replay I will quit after act 2.
Not a bad game at all but it’s too massive for me.
Funny thing is, I bought an OLED TV just as I was starting Ghosts of Tsushima and I immediately restarted my playthrough. Experiencing the lush landscapes and graphics in HDR made me actually replay a lot of my favorite games and content.
I equate it to getting an upscale audio setup and songs you know are a new experience because now you’re able to notice certain instruments more than before (why I also upgraded my home theater audio).
Have you bought an HDR-capable display fairly recently? Go back and rewatch episode “The Long Night” from Game of Thrones and you’ll see all the details in the shadows that were missed from the original broadcast when you didn’t have HDR.
It won’t improve a sucky story or gameplay, but (if the content is HDR capable) you’ll get to re-experience a favorite in a more visceral/immersive way.
The last of us 2. It’s amazing, one of the best. But the experience feels so complete, like you’ve lived that already… It really doesn’t need repeating.

Witcher 3.
Geralt got his happy conclusion and I won’t drag him through the chaos and stress again.
This is a Witcher who will get to die in his bed, peacefully.

Overwatch, the game I bought no longer exists and ABK aren’t getting one more penny from me.
Super Mario odyssey.
Loved it first time, but always loses its charm and doesn’t feel surprising or rewarding playing it again
99% of all story/campaign-based video games I played. It’s just not the same playing them again, and there’s far too many new games to experience.
Probably Elden Ring. It just takes too much out of me.
Celeste. The game is great, I still listen to the music, and I’ll watch gameplay videos, but playing it myself triggers terrible memories, id rather move past.
Tunic. Phenomenal, but I finished it and I’m done.
Nier: Automata
For honor. It consumed my life for a year. I quit it like a drug. I’ll never ever touch it again.
Stanley Parable
Outer Wilds. because when you know, you know.
Firewatch will never get the same feeling I did the first time I played was a cold winter night. There was no power from the snow storm, played it a TV and Xbox powered by a generator
The Witcher Enhanced Edition
Enjoyed he story and quests but will not put myself through hours of janky gameplay again
Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. They all have a very bittersweet ending that i never want to experience ever again. Especially SotC. Incredible games ..
SOMA. i can sob about human existence only so much during my one life.
BioShock 1. An absolutely incredible game and one of my all time favorites but when you know all the twists and jumpscares the experience just isn’t the same.
Most games honestly. Gaming time is such a premium that I always just move on to the ‘next’ game once done.
Not Ghost of Tsushima, played it twice. Probably FF16, until something new is released in form of DLC for that game.
Assassins Creed Black flag
I really don’t wanna do all the tailing missions
**Plague Tale: Innocence.** Had no idea what it was when I got it for 60% off 100%ed it in a week and loved the story and characters, Never wanna touch it again, not even sure I wanna play the sequel as I’ve seen very mixed reviews.
Red Dead 2 its amazing but so long
Linear story games that take more than six hours.
Playing God of War a second or third time won’t change anything. I know the story and there’s little to offer in terms of new ways to play.

Literally 90% of the games i liked.
Persona 5, it would be like rewatching a tv show with 10 seasons
Horizon zero Dawn
Funny you have GoT as your example as it’s one of the very few faves I return to every year or so.
The last of us 2. It’s amazing, one of the best. But the experience feels so complete, like you’ve lived that already… It really doesn’t need repeating.
Tears of the Kingdom. I loved it but it’s just not that appealing to replay.
WoW – Will never have that kind of time again.
Return of the obra dinn. Great game
Death stranding
Overwatch… I’m done. I’d love to play OW 1 but Blizzturd euthanized it. I won’t play 2.
