I still side with Crystalis when it comes to the top 8-bit adventure games. The RPG elements are there, the music is epic, the world feels lived in, the combat is quick. Just a well rounded game that still sits well, if you like 8-bit games.
chrono trigger holds up perfectly today as it is already. it’s the early 3d games like ff7, GoldenEye, and resident evil that had/have some room to benefit from a remake.
anyway I’d say a remade twisted metal could be cool.
– Final Fantasy VI (III in the US). – This deserves a remake far more than FFVII.
– Xenogears – modern graphics combined with being able to actually finish out the story properly? This game could have been up there with PS1 Final Fantasy Games.
Metal Warriors from SNES. My dad had an emulator on our PC growing up and this was one of mine and my brother’s favorites. The PvP was especially fun though I don’t remember much about the story.
Jet Force Gemini. That game felt fucking HUGE compared to its peers. And it did that Dark Souls thing where you unlock shortcuts and areas connect to each other as you progress. It was a marvelous game. Along those N64 lines: Body Harvest.
Little Nemo the dream Master!
Actraiser
earthbound
Chrono Trigger just needs a solid port.
def not sprite based games prolly a psx game instead

sprite games aged like wine
**Legend of Dragoon**
Sony could score big time that remaking their own PS1 JRPG.
Adventure for Atari
Ecco the Dolphin
Sonic Spinball
Super Mario Bros. 3
Edit: sounds like SMB3 may actually happen.

People mentioning Crystalis warms my heart.
I would put Turok, Dino Crisis, Willow, UN Squadron, Einhander, Star Tropics, Kid Icuras, Zelda 2
A Xenogears remake would be absolutely stellar, especially if they fix the second disc.
Vigilante 8
Chrono Trigger doesn’t need a remake, but I would love to see a remaster of it on modern platforms.
Xenogears OMG!
am waiting for this and Xenogears and my life would be COMPLETE, SO SO COMPLETE
Shadowrun
Parasite Eve remade in modern NYC
Dune II by Westwood.
Syndicate by Bullfrog.
Final Fantasy 6

Chrono Trigger of course but to add to the list:
– Shining Force series
– Skies of Arcadia (technically this one was released in Oct 2000)
Dark Cloud!
Terranigma
Startropics. Let it live, Nintendo!
Soul Reaver
Not quite pre-2000s but Skies of Arcadia
Also, Mario 64 needs a remake.
Jet Force Gemini. That game felt fucking HUGE compared to its peers. And it did that Dark Souls thing where you unlock shortcuts and areas connect to each other as you progress. It was a marvelous game. Along those N64 lines: Body Harvest.
I don’t want a Chrono Trigger remake ALTHOUGH I have to say a Mario RPG style faithful remake does sound very appealing.
I don’t want the FF7 treatment though.
I’m really glad Chrono Trigger never has and due to legal reasons will likely never have a remake. It’s perfect just the way it is.
Parasite Eve or the Breath of Fire games would be cool
Xwing/tie fighter. Squadrons was fantastic and I just wanted more but those games are so hard to go back to now.
Final Fantasy 6
Full remake. Full voice acting. Full opera orchestra.
Breath of Fire 3 & 4
Not a remake, but it’s way past time for Pokémon Staduim 3
Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Brave Fencer Musashi, Legend of Dragoon and Dino Crisis.
The Gaia Trilogy:
Terranigma
Soul Blazer
Illusion of Gaia
Worms Armageddon
Secret of Mana
Ocarina of time
Breath of Fire 2. And give more choices for citizens and city customization.
Or Tecmo Secret of the Stars, for the same reasons. But the dialogue could use some polish (fighting Badbad).
Maybe Soul Blazer too.
Leave Chrono Trigger alone. It’s already perfect the way it is.
FF6 however could probably use a good facelift.
Fuck chrono trigger, that games perfect as is.
Remake chrono cross please. The final boss NEEDS animations.
Ape Escape
The Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver series.
Hexen
Suikoden I & II, or some way to play them today without emulators or hooking up my PS2.
