A lot of multiplayer games are completely dead nowadays, Hawken is an example, even though it’s still playable on console!
Sadly I only knew about it recently and I think it’s super fun. I wish I’ve played it in its prime when it was full of players.
How about you? Any multiplayer game you wish you’ve played in its prime?

I never played Hawken, but why did it not maintain enough players?
Halo 2, Halo 3 and Titanfall 2.
Quake 3, Jedi Knight 2.
Maaaan…I had high hopes for Hawken. Shame.
Hawken is still fairly active. I play from time to time and it never takes me long to get a game. The only problem is that most players are super hardcore so if you are new you are going to get recked viciously lol.
Planetside 2
Quake 3 Arena
Dark Spore
I played Hawken back when it first launched in beta. It was a lot of fun and a nice change from the usual in a time of the COD era. For some reason it didn’t get a lot of attention and the devs barely released updates so it died quite quickly. It was fun while it lasted.
Chrome hounds, which my brain says is a fromsoft game?
I believe this is the first mp game I played, about 10 years ago. That and Nosgoth. Both are gone now.
That game was awesome AF
Two more really super fun games in their prime were:
Warhawk
MAG
Both on PS3.
Prime Hawken was gas. And then they got greedy
Holy fuck I thought I’d be the only one to say Hawken.
I liked Hawken, but they never added new content.
I built my first pc when this game came out. It was great. Nothing quite like it before or since. Would love to see a reboot or spiritual successor.
Hawken was an awesome game. I played it on pc before it went to consoles only. I think thats what killed hawken
I have like 500 hours in Hawken on PC. I looooooved the shit out of that game. CRT Assault vs. the World. Rolling on the snow map clockwise or counterclockwise was so much fun. Swamp map was a ton of fun too. Sucks that they cancelled it on PC.
Hawken was the shit.
I played hawken in its prime in closed Beta, and then they added that stupid healer mech and killed All the fun.
There also Hawken reborn for pc, but it seems not doing very well.
Star Wars Galaxies.
Natural selection 2, makes me sad seeing it die out without a sequel or bigger support
Not exactly the same but I played a shit ton of BF2…I wish I could relive that time.
Quake 3 arena
Battlefield 2.
I was BIG into 1942 (plus desert combat mod) and Vietnam, but my family computer couldn’t run battlefield 2.
I bought the game but couldn’t play it. By the time I got around to it battlefield 3 was out
Is Hawken like Titanfall?
Mag on the ps3
AVP 2010; looking back it was the best AVP game we ever got, we collectively dunked on it for not much reason (I think it was a COD/Battlefield release year, black ops 1 and BC2, that’s all), and studios have been terrified of touching the IP ever since. It had 3 full campaigns (they were not great, but the AVP universe really isn’t ‘deep’ to begin with.. all it’s stories have been told, and what’s left to tell are the mysteries that hold the ‘tension’ together), co-op, multiplayer with custom servers, heaps of maps, heaps of game modes.
I waited a week before buying it because I got influenced by all the discourse and the game was already dead after that.
Crysis games.
Also, does anyone remember Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions? Your post reminds of that.
I have a couple, Angels Fall First, Battlerite, Gigantic, Lawbreakers, Planetside 2, Spellbreak, Splitgate and Toxikk. All games that I have tried but are dead or in low population. Gigantic especially would’ve been interesting, but I was busy with school and my main game at the time was Warframe which basically consumed all the time I had. Only game I have never played but would’ve loved to check out was Battlefield 2142, but I was literally like 8 years old when it came out. What frustrates me the most was that at least with a few of them I would have been able to play them at their peaks.
MAG. I didn’t even hear about this game before the servers were shutdown
