For me, it used to be Tombi (or Tomba if you’re in the US). Nobody I knew had ever heard of it.
It’s started being talked about again in recent years, though, which is very cool. Seemingly it was thousands of people’s obscure game!
Another one is the Summoner games on PS2. I used to find them captivating as a teenager. Recently got the Steam port of the original one and I could not tell you why I liked them so much…. they’re objectively not the best. Not awful, but not great either.
Urbz on the GBA. That shit was my jam! Unfortunately i lost my gba when i was a kid and I didn’t get to play it again until i got a job at 19, bought a ds, and then found a ds copy online. I still play it whenever i go on vacation and need a fun time killer.
When i got my first pc in ~2004 i got it with 4 games. 2 of them were educational to learn english (english is my second language), the third game i can’t find anywhere and i forgot the name but the 4th game that i loved was “Beetle Ju”. I think i never met anyone who knows this one.
Future Cop LYPD and Firo & Klawd (both PS1). Best multiplayer experiences I ever had (Army of Two was nice, too, okay?). Also, Crash Dummies on my old Sega (forgot which system it was). That game was a fucking fever dream if I’ve ever seen one.
FUEL on xbox 360,I played this constantly. No open world off-road game has come close to the amount of fun I had playing this game, the online free roam made this game a blast to just relax and exist in.
Not exactly a game. The computers at my school all had it. It’s like paint, but with some fun ‘tools’ like a stick of dynamite and weird little voice files that said “oops” and “oh no” whenever you clicked the undo button.
Also all those crazy mini golf games Sierra used to make. I had like, one of them but then theyd let you play demos of their other courses and id play them over and over again
Faxanadu on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Back in the 80s, you often couldn’t save a game and continue gaming the next day. So I played through in shifts with my two brothers and my buddy from Saturday afternoon until sunrise Sunday morning. But just when it was my turn to sleep, there was the boss fight. So unfortunately I missed the end.
Any fellow Zoombinis enjoyers in here? Zoombinis Island Odyseey was my favorite of the series, if only for the ability to create custom critters in the gene pool mini game. Also, all of the Putt Putt games. Insaniquarium from PopCap Games is another oldie but goldie. Preggo the momma fish was the MVF (most valuable fish) for protecting your minnows from those damn aliens!
Blaze and blade. Me and my best friend used to play this game for hours and I don’t know anyone else who knows it.
It’s, terrible graphic, floaty gameplay but I remember it being addicting.
No not the very popular one that everyone knows off and has played. The better one that didn’t get a remake. The one where you’re flying around the world to earn more money than your competitor Flintheart Glomgold.
I can remember playing a game on the original Playstation, it was a demo disc from Japan that I got in a magazine or something. It was when the dual shock joysticks first came out. In this game you were a Japanese chef, first person style. And you would chop vegetables and put them in soup, grill meat etc. My brother and I PLAYED THE SHIT out of this game. Nobody I’ve ever explained this game to had heard of it/seen it. And I have no idea what it’s called
An N64 puzzle game called Wetrix was a pretty big deal for me. You were presented with a flat 3D plane and pieces would fall. You would use the pieces to manipulate the land and make walls with them to keep as much water in play as possible, scoring more points by having multiple lakes and as much water in play as possibe, with the game ending if too much leaks off the sides. It was a lot of fun once you figured the mechanics out.
Pokemon Trading Card game on the Game Boy. We were poor but my parents managed to afford a game boy for me and my siblings and the game they got for us was Pokemon TCG because it was cheaper than Red/Blue.

Also, the cover of Fester’s Quest (NES) was responsible for my first nightmare as a kid
Rebel raiders: operation nighthawk on PS2
Road trip adventure for the ps2
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs. It was such a big part of my childhood and seemingly nobody can relate except my brother xD

Diddy Kong Racing for the n64
That game was the shit, blew past Mario Kart like it was standing still.
Finally beating that fat fucker Wizpig in the final race was *so* satisfying, and it only took me like 200 tries.
There was a really unique game called alter echo for the Xbox. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alter_Echo

Bust a Groove
Lost Kingdoms. I wish FromSoft would make a third game so badly..

Endless ocean 2 blue world still holds up today
