Great video, and what a complex phone to repair. Shame on Apple for the ransomware.
Unfortunately Apple have been killing the repair industry for a good few years, it seems they’re not far off their final execution
apple have always been fairly crap to rebuild due to all the different screw types and glue thats used
The patience of this man to do that.
It won’t anger a lot of people because people have been defending this stuff as it progressed more, and more, each year.
Can’t open your Mac?
“It’s not supposed to be opened, idiot”
Then how do you dust it?
“You don’t, it’s not meant to be opened”
So this thing is designed to fail after so many years because it’s going to literally cook itself in a few years because of dust build up.
“PC Fanboy”
^I’ve seen this exact thing when Linus tried to open the Mac and people are seriously defending this kind of nonsense.

There’s vids now talking about a sensor for sleep mode on macbooks and how it will not work if you replace it. It’s a basic, magnetic sensor and people are making every excuse in the book that they can to defend it. Even calling people the people who are explaining why this is bad and has no excuse are being called frauds trying to profit off of Apple.
Serialized batteries? “Don’t want to get a counterfeit one”. Ok but when it’s literally taken from one phone to the other “Just get apple care and stop complaining” or “By then you’ll want a new phone” oh, so it’s planned obsolescence? “No it’s just how batteries work” Weird, batteries existed for decades before the iphone did but now it’s bad to change them? Weird. .

Nothing Apple does is wrong, ever. Even when you look back just 5 years you see how aggressive they’ve been with walling off their devices from even basic repairs. You’ll see years of people making excuses for them and now we’re at the point were everyone is copying them because dumb fucks defend their products becoming Apple’s products that you’re allowed to rent and use.
Don’t buy apple, problem solved.
If you want to repair your phone, don’t buy an iPhone! Consumers have the right to buy something or not, producers have the right to build their product in the way they see fit.
Apple is a shitty company. I wouldn’t buy their products.
IPhones are nice, but it doesn’t excuse their behavior in making them so difficult to repair.
All that labour alone would be on par with the replacement charge nearly.
Instead of a headline designed to make you upset, this goes right to the endgame and tells you that you will be upset. The sign of bait content.
Manufacturing choices that only impact the ease of repairability. No surprise.
The chip that signals to the charger to send high power through usbc has died twice on my MacBook Pro. The entire logic board was replaced less than 6mo before it died again. Their machines are disposable junk. Even their repairs are garbage.
$2400 + $1200 + $1200
My wife had the tendency to drop her phone a lot, which resulted in a few cracked screens. The iPhone 6/7/8 etc. we’re easy to fix. When she got an iPhone 11, and the screen cracked, I couldn’t fix it at all.
just quit buying apple crap, problem solved. over priced, over popular.
I think of it like apple products are like the kids version of real products. Simple easy interface, removal of ‘complicated’ features so the user doesn’t get confused. Apple is for my mom, or for my friend that doesn’t understand how to work things. It’s great example of the dumbing down of society.
I used to think technology and the internet would make everyone smarter, but it’s only made people lazier and dumber. All the world’s knowledge and info all in one device that fits in your pocket, yet people just use it for mindless entertainment.
I have to say though, while I 100% agree, my iPhone 6 still runs just fine with the exception of battery only lasting a day. If I can get a decade or better as a landscaper out of a phone I’m ok with no need to repair. But it’s also bs
I thought people were excited for iphone 14 because it had much more repairability compared to prior iphone.
Ffs people. Don’t. Buy. iPhones.
All that effort on a perfect repair job, $500+ later, and it’s still barely usable without auto-brightness.
Companies being this anti consumer should be illegal
Please don’t forget that Apple, the richest company in the world, force updated older iPhone models with a “virus” to cripple the batteries, kill response times, make keyboard input unbearable, worsen overall performance, and make almost unusable to force customers to purchase a new phone.
And who did it target? The lower class.
Is anyone surprised? It’s apple
doesn’t anger me at all. people who choose to buy iphones activity choose to buy a product which is extremely hard and expensive to fix. this is no secret.
don’t want expensive hard-to-fix gudgets ? don’t buy them.
How can this be actually legal??
dont buy apple junk. ez
At this point if you buy anything made by Apple you get what you deserve. You know what you’re buying. You aren’t *allowed* to bitch and complain about it.
There are many phones out there that can be repaired and some even with ease. We’re always stuck in between this fight of stupid consumers and evil corporations. It’s a lot easier to stop being stupid than it is to get a corpo to stop being evil. Just… Stop buying fucking apple products.
I’m feeling the same frustration watching this process as I did when my cmos battery died on an old Asus motherboard and since it was under a plastic shield I would have to remove the heatsink, pull out the motherboard and undo clips on the back, remove a plastic shield and swap the battery….so instead after seeing a helpful YouTubers video I just cut the damn plastic and brute forced my way to the battery
Just so everyone knows, Samsung and Google are just as bad about this kind of stuff. The new Samsungs need a special adhesive that needs to be kept at fridge temperatures to stay good.
Source: work in the cellphone repair industry and know some people who are Samsung Certified Technicians and get this type of information
Feel sorry for the people at Foxconn who have to make 2 a minute on the conveyor belt.
I am so glad I got out of the repair game right around the 11’s, doing entire frame swaps on iphones were a pain and it looks like they have only gotten worse since…
They want buyers to give the broken phone back, it’s an incredible wasteful system.
i miss removable batteries 🙁
