I’ve been unable to figure this out: Will Ubisoft games bought on Steam require uPlay? Nothing switches me off a game faster than knowing that despite buying a game on Steam, I’ll be required to download and run the publishers own brand Steam knockoff to play it.
I guarantee they’ll still require you to have Uplay.
The way their games currently work and always have is that you click play on Steam, it then launches Uplay which may need to update if you haven’t launched it in a while, and then it launches the game
If big companies are willing to turn a blind eye on slavery and corruption just for money, a gaming company switching back to Steam for money is just too easy.
As someone who loves steam and wants to exclusively use it, its weirs when everyone always wants competition to everything, but then everybody agrees steam is by far the best and wants to exclusively use it.
Failure? The AC franchise had some of the most succesful sales in the past few years. Ubisoft is on a roll if you ever looked at some of their earnings.
They’re only returning to Steam because the think there’s more money to be earned and it’s worth dealing with the cut thar Valve takes. And you’re still going to have to have the Ubi launcher installed, the Steam version is basically going to be just a shortcut, same as with all the Ubi games on Steam like R6 Siege. But they’ll generate new sales because gamers who *only* buy games on Steam will think they won and buy some Ubisoft titles.
Well … I always got my Ubisoft games on Ubisoft Connect. I don’t intend to use Steam for this. It is a platform issue as I have installed so many because of each company wanting to have their own launchers … I just get rid of the shortcuts and wrote a little script to pick the game I want. It does the rest; launching the right platform and game.
Fanboys celebrating a company having a monopoly and collecting 30% for it.
You fanboys may like the valve of today. But lets see what happens when Gabe isn’t around anymore. Companies change. People used to LOVE Blizzard, EA and many more. Things change. Monopolies are bad. This isn’t a thing to celebrate. Steam IS the best right now. But we still shouldn’t want a monopoly. Bad fanboys, bad.
I thought by eliminating half of the competition, the other half would thrive, but you have shown me… that’s impossible. As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those, that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist.
I think a lot of these publishers are realizing the actual ton of stuff that steam does for games on their platform. I’m talking mp servers, data metrics (bugs and crashing), and wide spread audience. It costs billions for these companies to compete with their own launchers and they are starting to fail. Up next Epic.
what happended ?

Sometimes life can be Ubihard.
Lol
What happened to Ubisoft?
So will i finally be able to play trackmania 2022 on steam?
Budget isn’t something one considers when building their steam library. But this… does put a strain on my wallet.
They were removed? How come i bought R6 siege off of steam 2 years ago?
Fuck non steam launchers. I literally bought bf2 again so I didn’t have to deal with epic.
Will be good for them overall. Steam is the place to be
We’re going to see the same thing with streaming content in a couple of years.
Will anno come to steam tho’
Still need uplay? No thanks
Good to see no doubt since Steam is the launcher of choice for us all.
However I’m not fussed, I look for good deals on games and the launcher is just a means to play.
I have got all my Ubi games from uPlay for $9-$15, including new ones like FC6, ACV etc
They have some great sales!

Pog
Ahhh shit here we go again ahaha
I will stick with uplay anyway, 20% less on everything is too good to pass.
While there’s alot that can be said about Ubisoft, I’m not sure “Failure” is one of them lol

Ubisoft can barely make games, let alone keep up the infrastructure to run their own storefront.
still gotta download ubisoft connect to play anno 1404, a 13yo game…
But you still need to download ubisoft launcher right?

Did anyone even notice they were gone?

what?
Steam isn’t that good. i don’t know why people like it so much. Workshop is the only cool thing about it.
Are we sure its not just going to redirect you to Uplay even if you buy the game on Steam? Like they did with The Division?
There are still plenty of titles that are uplay exclusives. I’m still waiting for division 2 and Riders Republic.
Ubi Ubi Do. Where are you?

Idk if you guys have seen the movie but….the character doesn’t win in the end lol.
