Videos or streams of the program(game) against TOS? Ineligible for refunds outside the EU? I’m still reading. Am I reading something wrong?

  • The EU creates plenty of laws that international companies have to abide by, and more often than not it’s easier to just make these changes worldwide. One of those laws is the ability to refund software.

In this case they don’t seem to want to do that 😂

  • Doesn’t mention video or stream.

It means you can’t copy the files and pass them on to anyone or put them up for download where anyone could download them.

Any game that has any kind of DRM has something like this in it’s ToS because of piracy.

  • But you wouldn’t be copying or streaming the programming. You are displaying the execution of the program. I think you’re misreading. I think most devs companies appreciate livestreams as free advertising.

  • Techland are pretty supportive of the content creators who make stuff for their games.

I think this section about public display refers more to (for example) have a pc set up in an event where anyone could come play the game. You need their permission for stuff like that.

  • I’m pretty sure “publicly display the program” refers to showing it in venues and such. Same with alot of shows/sports, it’s fine to watch a stream of it at home in private but not OK for a venue to put a stream up on screen for the public to view.

  • It clearly states….. the public display of the program.

Where does it ever mention video streaming? You’re misunderstanding.
That just means without prior permission from Tech Land, you can’t display any of the game files fir access to the public.

Display can mean more than just a video or imagine on a screen, depending on the context.

In this case, public display means the program files available in any public display. A public display could mean on a file sharing site or any other means that allows the public access to it.

  • Sounds like it’s your first time reading the ToS. This is pretty common stuff, and it’s most likely there just to cover their asses. This does not mean they will do anything about it if you choose to stream, nor does it mean that they won’t give you a refund if you’re not in the EU/UK.
