Videogames will not help you in real life

  • The US military replaced outdated controllers that required a lot of training to use with xbox 360 controllers because they are easy to obtain, cheap, and many soldiers are use to using them in their personal lives.

Adapting technology to suit the needs of the people is smart and efficient.

If submarines were all like uboats with 500,000 valves and dials to check and adjust you’d not want to a submariner, look at a comparison of the 1980 and 1990s space shuttles cockpits by nasa and compare them to the dragon pod by spacex, they have like 3 monitors and a dozen buttons to push, the cockpit doesnt look like a boeing 747 with 5 levers for each axis of thrust along with 5000 buttons per square meter of interior.

Military drone operators in the UK even use xbox controllers instead of outdated flight joysticks with 1990s style .50cal nato ammo boxes rigged up with an array of switches and dials.

  • I’m kinda pissed nobody said; “Videogames will not help you in real life” to me, ‘cuz after six months working in a warehouse I realized my job was basically RE4 attache case sorting and I didn’t even get to say “I told you so” to anyone. Sidenote; Thank fuck RE4R has auto-sort, ‘cuz doing it manually was giving me work PTSD (which is how I finally had the realization that my job was just attache case sorting)
