I always liked vertical videos, you don’t have to make your phone horizontal. Yeah I’m lazy
In a way you could argue is that the thing we like seeing the most are human beings. Human beings are vertical creatures not horizontal. vertical videos are able to make us much larger on screen than horizontal videos. So in an instinctual way, we probs prefer vertical videos.
The whole war between vertical video/horizontal seems pointless in hindsight. like yes clearly there are many cases where vertical video makes sense, like a person just taking a selfie video where they are talking or the focus of the video. or for example, say you want to film anything that is tall. A geyser, a skyscraper, etc. It makes sense. It’s not like you’re losing resolution by recording vertical.
All those years ago, people were begging others to stop filming vertically because our monitors and eyes are horizontal. It just makes sense to film that way for so many reasons.
But people are lazy and dumb and can’t be arsed to turn their phone.
So instead of the people filming change, everyone who uses a fucking unmovable monitor/TV/etc has to put up with poor filming and sites like YT/insta/tiktok etc only encouraged it.
I miss Glove and Boots. Their channel was wrecked by YouTube’s algorithm.
Unless your video/pic is for the gram or TikTok or another phone media, then vertical is what you want, for the same reason but backwards.
That background song playing at 32 seconds in is very familiar. Does anything recognise it?
Saw this Video roundabout 10 Years ago. The Message is true, but the fight is lost.
we’re going to hear the spiel about “media production and consumption habits of the world”
With all the handheld devices this is not true anymore. It completely depends on the target device, audience and content.
The prospect of an old Mila Kunis does upset me tbh.
(Clean version) in title implies there’s a cooler (black jacks and hookers version)
Glove and Boots. Wow. They quit YouTube few years back. Shame as their stuff was funny and hilarious. Especially their cooking skits.
Well, they sure did make another Star Wars, and that went perfectly well, right?
….Right?
Miss the hell out of glove and boots.
Anybody notice the riff from the thing playing randomly ?
I blame TikTok so much for VVS.
The music that starts at 30secs, please, someone tell me what I recognise it from it’s hurting my feelings.
It also needs to be about after and before – both right to left and bottom to top. Both because of the phones

This video predicts the rise of TikTok and YouTube pushing its stupid Shorts format.
God I miss Glove and Boots.
Also miss when the internet relentlessly mocked vertical video. Thank god uBlock can just remove YouTube Shorts for me.

Vertical videos are everywhere, disney made worse star wars films than lucas’s prequels and mila kunis grew old. We lost.
BASED
Vertical video won. Now we are the weird ones.
The predictions came true, we now get vertical videos with bars so they fit on other platforms that eventually end up as postage stamp sized videos…
Nowadays phone camera sensors are large enough to record in widescreen even if the phone is held vertical.
