I have this same book
Did it work?
Just for context, there are parts in Northern Russia where they go mnths iwth very little sunlight
Well there’s my next album cver.
New subreddit r/oldschoolcreepy
Edit: apparently that already exists…should have known
These still are popular in parts of the world where there is little sunlight for long stretches and it does work.
Although this picture is pretty cringe.
Plot twist, it’s the picture of Lenin which heals, the lamp is there to confuse imperialist pigs
Blue light therapy is still used in the USA.
I remember this shot; it was published in National Geographic.
Leaked scene from Stranger Things – Season 5.
Wait, this is just a few of the guys over at r/Flashlight.
Alaska kid here. My parent dragged me into the tanning bed for “just a minute”. LOL
Is there an equivalent thing that the west doesn’t receive ?
I thought they we’re doing a ritual
Deleted scene from Insidious.
Pretty rad
Why can’t they just drink some sunny D?
I spent some time at Thule air base in the arctic, it’s mandatory that you spend so many hours under UV lights per week in the winter.
Well this was a blast from the past for me.
The photographer who shot this (Rick Smolan) was a friend of my family’s growing up. My grandparents had copies of all his collections and this specific image always fascinated me when I flipped through the one it appears in.
Did not expect to see it on Reddit, just now, this random Sunday evening.
Kind of referenced in season 2 of r/TheOA too.
Well that’s the goddamndest thing I’ve ever seen.
UV lights can cause cancer tho
They could also have supplemented their diets with fatty fish and milk
The picture of Lenin in the background adds a particular ‘Metro’ vibe to the whole picture.
Stranger….things
“Take me to your leader.”
Wouldn’t just giving them Vitamin D tablets be easier?
I had one in Germany in the 50is
That’s some Stranger Things stuff right there.
Real cool man
You are doing it wrong. You have to get them to see the light to erase their memories.
I have the book this was published in!
I love lamp
Which is actually a very good idea in northern latitudes
Just seasoning them up before the next famine
Thought these were a bunch of grey aliens at first glance
This looks like a scene from Stranger Things.
holy shit, I remember this issue of National Geographic.
They do something like this in Alaska where you can go weeks to months without seeing the sun. They called them happy lights.
Sounds like a description for the next a24 film
We had these in northern Norway too, and you can still get them. My dad bought one 3-4 years back.
During winter we could have days that were mostly darkness (dark time, _mørketid_) and vitamin D deficiency is no laughing matter. We had songs and cakes when the sun climbed over the horizon again
