Tremors (1990) with Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward (RIP big man), is an almost perfect movie

Such a classic.
you can strike the almost in the title.
Watched it again a few weeks ago, I hadn’t seen it in years and was curious to see how it held up. Turns out that it’s still fantastic.
I remember watching this on USA network almost every other week of my childhood.
A classic that spawned a really poor franchise
A teacher I had in high school called it the best B movie of all time.
What the hell is going on? I mean what the hell is going on?!
Just watched it for about the fortieth time, on Netflix the other day…
What do you mean, “almost”?
I always crack up at the way he holds the elephant gun in that scene. Hes gotta be really strong to be able to pull off two shots like that…
When I watched this as a kid, I didn’t appreciate that shot of the two turning around and there’s this big ass wall of guns right there.
“Can you fly, you son of a bitch?! Can you fly?!”
Missing the part where they went deaf for the rest of their lives afterwards but otherwise one of my favorite movie scenes of all time.
I know, movie realism. Still it’s hard not to think of after a little time in a gun range.
Almost? The fuck?
You didn’t get penetration even with the elephant gun! [One of my favorite movie lines.](https://youtu.be/wtmns9zQGVM)
TIL Fred Ward passed away
What do you mean by “movie”? That was a documentary.
Different scene, but this movie has the best movie quote of all time.
**”What kind of fuse is that?**
*Cannon.*
**Well what do you use it for?**
*…my cannon.*
looked for it on GERMAN netflix
(Netflix doesn’t stream it in germany)
title (translated from german):
In The Land Of The Rocket Worms
germans like it a little more descriptive I guess 😂
lol
One of those movies that has absolutely no business being as good as it is.
Any time this movie comes on, I HAVE to watch it.
Hot damn – alright Reba, I see you gurl!
It’s a really underrated movie. You figure out something strange is going on long before the characters, the premise (apart from the monsters) is simple enough, the characters are realistic, relatable, and logical. No Mary Sues, no deus ex machina, no forced political messages, just average folks having to adapt and survive. The creatures are menacing enough but also beatable…they’re realistic ion that they make mistakes but also learn. And thankfully we never get an explanation.
I found the ass end
Why does their rec room have so many guns? ‘Merica?
What’s the name of that rifle
Not only do they have a wall of guns, but a wall of guns loaded and ready to go.
I always laugh at “you broke into the wrong god damn rec room!”
It always bothered me that the original poster used one of the small tentacle mouths as the big scary creature underground. I’m so glad they [redid the cover art](https://i.imgur.com/fNTryHZ.jpg) on the newest 4k HDR release
I’ll also plug ss wilsons personal youtube channel, where a couple years back he found a box full of VHS tapes of never before seen behind the scenes footage of tremors filming he digitizes, uploads, and does commentary over:

I read once that after Kevin Bacon’s career started to decline after Footloose, he was walking down the street with a friend in SOHO area of Manhattan when feel to his knees and yelled to the heavens, “I can’t believe I am going to be in a movie about giant fucking worms!!!”
The great Irony is that the movie would be “Tremors”, one of several movies like JFK that would reignite his career for the next few Decade.
I cannot find the article, but it made me LOL when I read it about Kevin Bacon’s career ups and downs.
The most perfect cast to have ever graced the silver screen.
One of the greatest things about this movie: the main group of characters all act like any reasonable person would.
They don’t split up or make stupid decisions. They genuinely act like their lives are in danger and use the safest possible method to circumvent the monsters.
Despite that, the monsters show great tenacity and intelligence to hunt down the humans.
Even the gung ho couple with the guns realize when they’re out of their depths despite having an arsenal and decide to just group up with the others to think of a reasonable strategy.
