I was watching a movie with my mom and the movie referenced the movie Heat in a line, like “that’s just like in the movie, Heat”. Neither of us saw Heat at the time so we didn’t get it. Then we watched Heat and now I can’t remember the movie that was referencing the movie Heat.
I would imagine that scene shot over many days.
According to the director, he discarded the usual foley sound effects and ended up using recordings of the blank rounds going off during the shoot, providing the characteristic canyon echo effect of the surrounding buildings.
It was shot over a series of Sundays because that’s when they could close the location.
[This scene is featured here, in the new HBO MAX series “The Perfect Shot” in which Michael Mann describes everything in detail on a CGI recreated set.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H30lAgaNE6U)
Michael Mann is so incredible. I still listen to Miami Vice soundtracks.
Manhunter. Amazing.
That scene in Heat where Deniro and Pacino are talking in the diner is just so electric.
The ending in the airport runway.
Just wow. Respect.
Literally one of the best shoutout scenes ever. Great film.
Something something the marines use that scene in training videos something something
It was an inspiration for the opening scene of The Dark Knight
I was obsessed with this scene, loved the audio from the guns also. Found a mod for GTA V that made all the guns sound realistic and similar to the guns in Heat, made the gun fights in the game so much better
