If they would only find someone who could actually reign Robert’s in. Then this game might actually get released sometime in my lifetime.
Over half a billion in revenue and over a decade of development with only a unstable alpha without any of the promises of its initial campaign met. Well no wonder this is the joke of the industry. I don’t think it’s a scam in the traditional sense. But it is definitely a scam of incompetence that no one has learned how to properly manage this project.
This trailer is almost a bigger scam than the game itself. From the official forum:
“Space around stations is not the bustling hive of activity depicted
Argo Cargos are rarely seen in game and are not driven at all by NPCs. They are not seen flying around stations.
Docking is not a smooth operation, it involves lots of wailing sirens and jerky back and forth / up & down motions while lining up, all of which look very unrealistic for such a large ship
Hulls are not loaded while docked
There is no depiction of the ugly neon blue loading zone
There is no depiction of having to run back and forth through the station to get to buy / sell cargo
Argo Cargos can not pick up or drop off cargo
Argo Cargos do not come out and load your ship
Cargo pops in magically over a few minutes and not in the day/night cycle depicted
Super-unlikely that you’ll get an escort of Reliants flying in formation with you
Not sure quantum travel looks like that, unless the updated the effects in 3.20
The star travelled to does not exist in game, does it?
Stars do not look like that in game, with the looping eruptions etc
Asteroid fields do not look like that in game
You won’t be finding yourself snared into a fleet battle with Javelins and Idris as neither are in game
Space battles like that do not occur in game outside of staged events which damage server performance
Again, cargo won’t be unloaded while docked
There is no star system with the planet above and the planet below or whatever that closing scene is supposed to be showing”
To those wondering about the state of Star Citizen in relation to this video, I’ll point out what you can’t do in game that was shown in the video:
1) Hull-C cargo loading isn’t currently at the state in the video. Right now, you pull up to a station and the cargo with “beam” to the ship’s cargo extensions. The manually loading of cargo isn’t in the game yet. The rest of what that ship does is in game.
2) Travel to Pyro (the system with the unstable sun in the background) isn’t in the game yet. That will be coming with patch 4.0. We are currently on 3.20. (4.0 is scheduled to release end of this year, but who knows if it will be delayed). Travel to other planets, moons, and star bases is definitely possible.
3) They sped up the Quantum travel, didn’t show that it isn’t a load screen and that you can get up and walk about your ship (and soon do repairs in it). It’s not a “fast travel” game feature.
The interdiction shown (when they fly into the red bubble and there’s combat between Idris and Javelins) is possible in game right now (there’s an event they run that has these types of battles), and it’s possible for player- pirates or NPC-pirates to interdict you and try to steal your ship or cargo. All of that shown is in the game.
If I missed anything, please feel free to let me know.
Lastly, Star Citizen is still in active development. The criticisms have solid reasons for existing (missed deadlines, shelved features, etc.), but the game is still progressing and is improving with each patch. It is in a playable state, though that state does vary wildly with patches as they roll out backend tech changes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just trying to make sure everyone has the same facts.
Scam
Yawn.
Wish I had a gaming pc that could play it.
Is this “game” playable yet?

I wish I had the time and money to get excited about a blatant scam game like this, but I simply do not
