This multimillion dollar hospital lab I work in with huge analyzers and new equipment manufactured months ago has a tape dispenser from 1960-1970 held up by a toothpick/stir stick

Not Broke don’t fix it
Whatever works
Prolly works better than a new lightweight plastic one. Might hit it with a little paint or a marker though.
Saved a few bucks there, you can bet
That’s the way of the lab.
Pretty ingenious, if u got a new one it’d prob break in a couple months anyways
If you want to get rid of it, please send it to me.
That’s every medical lab!
Indicator tape that changes when it is heated to sterilization temperatures.
If the hospital burns down, that thing will be the only thing left undamaged.
Old shit was made indestructible.
Gotta keep the expenses down. Pass the quill pen, I need to validate your wagon parking.
I’m sure it still works better than a modern day version
Definitely going to last longer than anything they can easily replace it with today.
Shoot, the fact that you always know where your lab tape is makes that thing revolutionary.
*Sometimes the old ways are best…*
It probably works better than most new cheap plastic shit too.
Should at least upgrade to a nail you found on the side of the road with the point filed off.
If it works, it works!
No no. Pretty sure that is a tetanus dispenser. I can see how you made that mistake though.
For a second I saw it as some massive antiquated mri machine sitting on the floor. Took me a second to recognize it was sitting on a desk and OP said tape dispenser
Wait til you hear about Title One science classrooms.
We’d love ANY equipment but alas, empty.
Broken tape dispenser from the 60s sounds great!!!
When I was working in health care, we had the 50s wing refit in the 90s the 60s wing and the brand new 2017 wing. The cabinets in the 60s wing were adamantium, while the 90s and new cabinets broke with an angry glance
Admin couldn’t understand why noone wanted to move to the new wing.
Might as well post at /r/buyitforlife
We used a pipette tip to fix ours.
It don’t look too clean to me. I hope you boil it once in a while.
I work on nuclear submarines and we have like 4 of that exact tape dispenser in my office.
that looks like heat sensitive sterilizer tape.
Does it work?
In case you need a replacement…

Big shoutout to kimtech wipes, they are awesome if you need to wipe some shit in delicate little areas but don’t want your cloth falling apart whilst you do it. The things are like Kleenex but not shit. It’s wild
They didn’t become multimillion dollar buy buying new tape dispensers every time a little paint wore off.
