How? Lol only thing I can think of is the pole was already bent from being hit before and just barely caught on the lip. Then when they pulled forward/backed up it pushed it up into the hole. That seems extremely unlikely but I can’t think of any other way this could happen.
Judging from the trench that was produced, it appears the truck backed over the pole, then drove forward after the leaning pole got caught under the carriage. You can see where the post was anchored by concrete (sort of in the middle of the trench).
I get it (I think). He backed up against the pole. The pole bended backwards and the top came lower and lower. When low it was pushing the bar up and a bit horizontally. The top shifted under the end bar of the trailer. He must have been very close to the now still standing other pole. Or even hit it. And then he drove back forwards. What ended up ehat you see in the picture.
I live near a truck stop. In the last couple months there have been 2 poles on the main drag that have been taken out (I got to watch one go down). That combined with the increase in trucker recruiting I see everywhere makes me wonder if we aren’t about to see a rise in bigrig accidents or a novice safety issue in class A vehicles. Probably just some kind of recency bias on my part, but maybe plausible?
Edit, forgot about the trucker that slammed into the motel too.
I hate when they put those in the middle of a parking space. I hit one in a drug store once where they had them also on both side of the spot. I was watching the side camera and missed one of the three poles until it was too late. Even at low speed these can do some damage.
Why not just mark off the spot as no parking if you can’t fit a vehicle in the space?
I hate those fucking things. Hey just thought we’d make your job more challenging. Here’s a couple of obstacles 100 feet in front of the dock that’s right up against the building wall. Enjoy!
Gotta protect that precious dumpster. Here’s an idea… __PUT THE FUCKING DUMPSTER SOMEWHERE ELSE!__
The truck backs into the pole, knocks it out of its place in the concrete. It then leans/tips over just enough for the crash guard (the bracket with the red stripes) to catch the pole.
The pole is now wedged between the crash guard and the backdoor(s) of the truck.
The driver then drives forward and now drags the pole through the concrete. That is the result of this picture.
Worked in a distribution center for almost 15 years. You see some whacky shit. Trucks pulling off the bay door with people in them….trucks trying to pull away from the bay door while locked in and wrecking the back end of the truck. We occasionally saw trucks come where the top of the cab was wrecked to the point where it was essentially a convertible. Watch out for those low bridges, folks.
Wow fuck the company that put that pole 6 feet into a truck parking spot. It would be impossible to see it once lined up to back in, and it would be easy to miss while looking for an open spot.
First thought immediately was “how tf did it get there? What crack was the driver doing to have back up so far to lodge the pole into the rear end of the trailer??? And not feel it!”
This is my yellow pole. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My yellow pole is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me, my yellow pole is useless. Without my yellow pole, I am useless. I must drive my yellow pole true. I must drive straighter than my enemy who is trying to crash into me. I must crash into him before he crashes into me.
wtf is going on with those poles
How did it get there
How? Please someone explain to me
How in the eff did that pole get under the trailer to begin with?

Shout outs to the bumper bar and yellow pole. Both really held it down during this turbulent moment.
As for Paved ground…..I’m not mad. Just disappointed.
How?
Turns out, the pole belongs to that parking spot, so…. If you hold on to the pole, no one can take the spot 😏

Bet even a top of the line backup camera would’ve been cheaper than these repairs.

I’d make a Swift joke, but it’s too easy.

That is a bollard

So you had a bad day

There are many like it, but this one is mine. I will learn to master my yellow-pole as I must master myself.
I hope OP sees this and nobody made the joke before.
Your yellow fellow?
How did they manage that?
