I watched this interview not too long ago, and was quite astounded by how intelligent, witty and perceptive Sylvester was. As I was growing up watching his films, I was certain that his personality was more akin to that of Rocky: slow but sweet. I also just watched the Netflix documentary *Sly* and found him to be such an interesting person. I’m sure a lot of people have already seen this, but if you haven’t yet, do give it a watch!

That’s Barry Norman there giving the interview. Great stuff. Always had a deep respect for Sly and his passion/work ethic. I’ll be watching the new doc for sure 👌
Going to watch Rocky now
Stallone doesn’t get enough credit for his intelligence, I don’t think. His dialog is outstanding, his stories are well-crafted, his characters well-rounded.
Yeah, maybe he is a bit of an idealist with the stories he chooses to tell. Okay, his acting range is a little bit limited. Sure, he picks safe roles for himself. But he knows his lane and he knows what people want to see. Not only that, he has the intelligence and the skill to write those stories.
I’d have done the whole thing for a doughnut and a tunafish sandwich!
All these years, I had no idea Stallone wrote Rocky. I’m old enough that I saw the film in the theater in its original release. How did I miss the fact that he wrote the thing?
Great find!
LOL has anything EVER been fascinating about “The Italian Stallion”? lol
Rocky only costing 960,000 is crazy.
For anyone who might’ve forgotten just how good Sly *can* be, I implore you watch or rewatch Cop Land.
Sly and Arnie are my two favourite action stars.
I went to Philly recently specifically to go on a Rocky tour. It was so great. The tour guide is a true fan of the character and he had great stories because he knows Stallone. It’s called the Yo, Philly! Film Tour.
