I first played this when I was 12 and put it down almost immediately. Almost 20 years later I still can’t get through it. I don’t know how but it’s scarier than all the other Dooms + Dead Spaces combined
Wait’ll you play Halo in a flood mission, alone, in the dark, hearing far away screams, with eerie music, having just gone backwards and now you have to go back through the darkness with only a flashlight, passing dead bodies (or are they?), all the while having your allys dead because they were killed ages ago from those…. Things…
I’m physically incapable of playing Doom 3. Even with the duct tape mod, hearing the enemies but being unable to see them is made me break out in a cold sweat.
Man fuck that game, I was so excited to be blasting demons and shit and all I got was a game so scary 10 year old me didn’t dare play past the first level.
I replayed this game last year and it’s crazy how close it was from being like a modern doom game, basically just needed a killer sound track while in combat, some gory finishers, and be less dark.
I might have to start a new campaign and bet the weekend. I’m not a fan of the BFG edition because I like the frantic mechanics of having to switch between seeing and shooting. But yeah, horribly underrated game.
I wish the next Doom game would go back to being more creepy like Doom 3 and mix in the amazing mele style of 2016 and Eternal.
Remember the really weird Hell levels in the 90’s? Stretched out walls of faces, rivers of blood just really cerebral bizarre stuff.
Think Scorn style levels. That’d be my dream Doom game.
Scrap the entire storyline of Eternal – not sure what direction they were going in but it absolutely sucked. The lore in it was so lame and not Doom-esque at all.
I really wish the doom franchise made a spin off and went back to this style of game.
Where maybe you aren’t the marine but a scientist on board when shit starts going down. Less of the insanity of running everywhere but more tactical and scary as shit
Aww man those moans in the dark

Zombie head goes ‘plopp’.
Definitely scary when they are in the shadows and you can’t see them.

Nah man.
The half baby half insect demons.
The heads-spiders
The flying heads.
Dude i was just a kid when i played this, maybe 11-12. I loved the shotgun though

I expected a game like the OG Doom 1 & 2
This game has a great VR mod now. You hold the flashlight in the left hand and your gun in your right.

This game scared the shit out of me. I remember I was about 11 playing it on a 100+ inch projector all alone one night. Had nightmares.
This is starfield right?

Man that violently cranked gamma. Yep. That’s Doom3 right there. A desperate attempt to see fucking anything, but all it does is wash everything out.
Adored that game.
He looks like me when I wake up in the morning ngl
Omg doom 3
The way your screen moves and the red scratches that appear when they are slapping you around made 15 year old me terrified of fighting them.
I’ll never understand the hate this game gets. I know it’s not like the other doom games but it’s great.
doom 3 in vr is a fucking nightmare
Didn’t the BFG Edition remove the dynamic lightning from the flashlight?
If you haven’t tried it in VR, your missing out. Best VR experience available currently.
Bought it when I turned 18. Played it at night for about 2 hrs. Switched it off because I’m a wuss lol
Get a Quest and try it in VR.

I was most scared of the enemy that appeared behind us after pressing the button in Bioshock Infinite, and I didn’t recognise a moment over it.

Loved this game! Great memories!
Best doom and I will die on this hill.
