The smoke around freddie looks like “the queen” enjoying queens music
That is epic!
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
Its amazing. Is it a well known picture?
Edit: im getting some notifications of people posting the link to the original Twitter post, that disappear. I think those links are automatically removed.
Impressive considering cameras were the size of baked potatoes back then.
One of the greatest front men that ever lived right there
I regret not documenting all the stuff I saw and did when I was a teenager.
Serious question: was it illegal to bring a camera to a concert?
Oh Freddy. You legend.
I saw them on this tour at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. I took a 35mm camera, got some pretty decent shots too, although not as close as this one. I don’t recall if I had to sneak my camera in or not. I should dig them out someday.
amazing…. how lucky this lady and thank you for the pic.
They must have been amazing to see live!
What’s more impressive is that back then you typically had to put all of the proper settings into your camera depending on many factors: the film speed, the ambient light, the speed of action, the shutter speed, the size of the aperture, etc. Just makes it that much more impressive.
Wish I could have seen him in concert live. From all the videos I’ve seen I’ve never found anyone that worked the crowds like he did.. What a legend!
Ham wallet
Freddie in all his glory. All hail the Queen.
What a gem!
Live killers.
Both my late father and my uncle have told me the greatest concert they’d ever been to was Queen. I would cherish this moment forever.
Damn she’s 60 now
Iconic
A pure showman! What a great capture!
I can see this picture moving.
Cameras werent allowed at concerts?
I wish I could have seen Queen and Freddie live.
That was the year I saw then in Philadelphia. It was amazing.
That girl is 60 now
She must be in her late 60s now?
I worked with this woman who was a teenager sneaking a camera into concerts of Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac. She brought them to work and my draw dropped. I wish I made digital copies.
His spirit personality came out in the smoke
Isn’t it crazy how locked down concerts used to be? I remember sandwiching a disposable camera in my crotch up as far as I could so they wouldn’t feel it during the frisk, going to see Down play in like 2002. Now they can’t really stop you from taking a photo or video with your phone.
Photography like any art is just so amazing that someone could spend their entire career trying to capture magic but sometimes things just naturally work out. Amazing stuff.
Awesome pic, very lucky shot. Kudos to the photographer!
In the summer of 1980, I got to see Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and The Who (3 separate concerts), and I snuck my little 110 camera into each. Always got down near the stage and took all 24 shots. Each and every one is a blurry, grainy, over/underexposed mess. It takes imagination to see Freddie, Stevie, and Daltrey in those shots, it’s almost like a Rorschach test.
Happy 60th birthday, you beautiful 16-year-old girl wherever you are!
We literally just had this posted by the OP. You could have easily given credit or linked to the original, but instead here you are farming fake internet points. Weird asf dude.
Freddy Mercury is the greatest performer of all time. Endless passion for music and wanting to give everyone a good time. His skill and talent are almost unmatched.
Dio is up there too as a one of a kind performer too.
Someone once said about Freddie: “He could steal your girlfriend, your boyfriend, and the show, all in one night.”
I have several similar photographs from this tour, but not nearly as good quality. I had a seat in Row 11 Center at Cobo Hall in Detroit (purchased from a scalper I found through the classifieds section of the local newspaper….face value of tickets were $9 and my co-workers (whom I’d asked to cover for me while I took an extended lunch hour to buy my tickets) mocked me to no end for spending a whopping $15 for concert tickets?! I earned something like $6.50/hour at the time, but I do not regret that expenditure. (Oh, BTW, I sneaked my 110 Pocket Instamatic camera in my purse and took two rolls of film.)
This sort of candid awesomeness is just incredible…
This would’ve made for a hell of a magazine picture I think. It’s one of those pictures that would’ve jumped right out of the page if it could.
Anyone else want to print this and hang it as a huge poster?
Imagine what kind of photos she could take with topnotch equipment and training/experience
I remember this light setup from the cover of a Queen live album I had as a kid.
Now that’s a good NFT right there. I call dibs. That’s how it works, right? NO ONE SAVE IT
Why did she have to sneak a camera in? I got a phone with one right here.
I have shot many thousands of pics. Wow to you.
I have nothing to even be close.
Pentax k1000 Kodak gold 100 asa.
Stunning pic, another reason to hope for the world. Beautiful.
What do you mean “snuck”? Weren’t cameras allowed at concerts back then?
Hiiii this is my moms photo! i posted it here originally in 2019, my twitter is sar_uh666 for the full thread 🙂
