Hammer hammer hammer….
So let me provide some context: Basically, the guy with the megaphone (played by Bob Geldof, who created Live Aid) is Pink. Pink is a depressed rockstar who, because of emotional turmoil in his life up to adulthood and during it, builds an emotional wall around himself and shuts everyone out. Eventually, though, he takes drugs while in his apartment and overdoses. His manager and a host of medical personnel break down the door and give him drugs to get him back on his feet and force him to perform. And this song is basically him going off his rocker in his own head and thinking that he could use the crowd to his advantage and bring destruction on London and all of GB. Again though, this is all in his head and at the end he yells “STOP!” to, as Eminem once said, snap back to reality.
Disturbing how easily government slide toward this behavior.
Interested fact, the skinheads in this scene were actual neo nazis.
And then an anus puts him on trial. This movie’s weird. Great, but weird.
I have to rewatch this, when this first came out I was to young to appreciate what it was all about.
40 years later and Roger Waters is siding with the fascists for real.
Anyone else notice how the unintelligible stuff he’s saying through the microphone sounds exactly like every other person in the world who talks to closely to the microphone over a loud speaker system does? I can’t ever understand people talking through those systems it’s by far the worst at international airports in foreign countries that you are not native to while trying to catch a connection flight lol. Felt like I was at the Sydney intl terminal all over again goddamn.
