This clip is why, whenever we hear Bowie’s version and it gets to the line about telling his wife he loves her very much, me and my wife yell “SHE KNOWS!” to each other.
This show was so fucking good. Such an amazing premise to spoof Jonny Quest. Every character was perfect. The Mighty Monarch has got to be the in the top 5 characters of all time IMO.
Adult swim did venture bros dirty. What a phenomenal show
Unlike recent turds, the writers of Venture Bros knew how to parody Hanna-Barbera cartoons in a screamingly funny way because they knew and loved them – they didn’t hold the shows and their fans in contempt, because they *were* fans of those shows themselves.

This is the episode that got me hooked. The ghost pirate captain is one of the funniest characters.
“I got the tranq monkey on me back”.
Best freaking cartoon.
This show loved Bowie, even though he ran a global criminal organization bent on calamitous intent.
“TVC-15”
The scene where he keeps asking “Can you hear that?!” and the guy keeps talking over the sound is so brilliant. It’s one of those scenes that makes you wonder how you’ve never seen it before.
The part in the episode where Brock is trying to tell hank how to choke someone and then you hear hank gagging is just hilarious every time.
I always loved these flashbacks to the original Team Venture. Still one of my top five shows.
IGNORE ME!
“Where’s the key?”
“Its up my ass!”
“What? Are you serious?!”
“Why don’t you find out!”
Brock then proceeds to beat the shit out a pirate by clenching his buttocks around another pirates hand and using him as a mace.
This show was peppered with some great music references thrown out as jokes throughout its run. Two that always spring to mind are The Monarch, after getting bored moving into a suburb named Malice, proclaims “I can’t believe I live in a town called Malice!”
The other was when the Ventures were having a yard sale, and Brock had his security team dressed formally for protection, and Dr. Venture refers to them as Brock’s “Specials cover band”.
Then of course they made Iggy Pop and Klaus Nomi villains…
Make way for the Homo Superior!
