l remember being a teen when this came out and thinking these dudes were a bunch of dinosaurs… now I’m older than Roy Orbison was when he died. Fuuuuuuu—
So much better than the other supergroup that came out around the same time, The Wandering Dingleberries, which was composed of Paul Anka, The Captain, Rick Dees, Tony Orlando, and Englebert Humperdinck.
If you went back in time to 1989 and said in 2023 only two Wilburys will still be alive, I don’t think anyone would guess Bob Dylan would be one of them.
My dad had this album on cassette. This was the only song he’d play. And he’d play on repeat. We’d get in the car, he’d fire up this song. When it ended, he’d say “ONE more time!”, hit rewind, and play it again.
I grew to despise it. Then in my later teen years, as I was learning to play the guitar, becoming a Beatles fan, and Bob Dylan fan, and Tom Petty fan, I found the old cassette with the labels fading away. And this whole record blew my mind.
I wish my dad was still here with me… but he just left after a Sunday afternoon visit!
One of the greatest band line ups of all time
Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne
Damnit, OP. It’s too late for this YouTube rabbit hole tonight.
<sigh>
Well, here I go again. At least it’s the weekend.
An empty chair for Roy? He was gone when they shot the video? He really went to the end of the line with them.

*this underrated band*
One of those songs that is in several movie trailers.
Amazing supergroup of guys who just liked to jam at Jeff Lynne’s house.
“You ready, babe?” To which she replies, “Yes, I’m ready.”
Always loved it. RIP Tom Petty. And Roy Orbison shines here.
Did he die before this was filmed?

Getting the “Content” trait in CK3
This is one of the songs I chose to play during the slideshow at my dad’s memorial service
I am more a Traveling Bill Murrys fan.
George was only 45 in this. Whaaaat?
I’m proud to say I saw them live. It was great.
I like to listen to the various artists’ work afterward and who added more Wilburys to their solo work.
Man, this does absolutely nothing for me at all
That’s a good tune.
That’s a supergroup of incredibly talented musicians that I could never enjoy the music of. As a group.
I loved them individually though, especially Jeff Lynne.
I thought the thumbnail was from lord of the rings
More talent in that group than some entire festival line ups.

I feel like this is the last thing the 60s had to offer the younger generations. What a great song.
Yeah….but not a good song.
