Just saw the Slits documentary on amazon. Such an amazing group. I honestly didn’t know much of their history other than always seeing their album Cut make it on most essential punk album lists or best albums ever lists. Well deserved. It was cool to see a feminist musical group, especially at that time.
When I saw the lead singer Ari Up, right away I assumed Perry Farrell stole her look. Even though they are widely acclaimed, I wish they were more mainstream. Seems like strong female rockers like Debby Harry, Joan Jett, Chrissy Hynde are always mentioned, but the Slits never seem to get brought up.
