This took me a year to make in my free time, using the free CGI/VFX software Blender. This is my own OC from a Youtube channel I made a couple of years ago but I don’t want to self promote so won’t say anymore. Hope you enjoy it! I don’t think I could have made this without the amazing support from people on Reddit for my previous two videos.
Damn, this was really really well made. I also like the scales and objects you use to contrast distance. Visuals were stunning, and your voice was serene and calming.
He references Carl Sagan who famously spoke of our [“*Pale Blue Dot*”](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wupToqz1e2g). Sagan set the original standard for understanding how small and insignificant we are on a galactic scale, but this was excellent.
I gotta be honest, this was mesmerizing from start to finish. The animation style, the transitions, the fluidity between each scene, it was really great. Brilliant work.
I enjoyed the video a lot but have a question. When you turned off the galaxy, you said there is only one star in the night sky. Is that accurate? I thought that many of the “stars” we see in the night sky are galaxies. Would the sky not be full of galaxies?
I cannot wait to show this to my seven year old son who has been fascinated by the universe for a few years now. This is the type of content that will inspire him to keep learning. Amazing job!
It was pretty cool to see the Milky Way without the stars and also show how “Earth” views it on the axis. It was a great visual that I think other shows about our view in the universe misses.
Excellent content. As the “Pale blue dot”, this gives a lot of context about where we stand and how “big” problems are… or as Carl Sagan said “think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot”.
Such an incredible video, and great visuals. I was just thinking when I was about 2/3 of the way through the video how amazing it’d be to see something tiny contrasted with the vast scale of the Milky Way. The atom really brought it all home.
this might be the coolest thing i’ve ever seen. explaining so simply while conveying these complex ideas. this is beautiful and i’d watch an entire series if available.

Very smart and helpful way to understand these very hard to comprehend scales.
