It’s the heaviest building in the world! I had a conference there once..pretty impressive
It also has a nice tunnel system underneath, as Top Gear found out.
What a beautiful government building I’m sure the rest of the country must be doing well.
I think this building was shown in Harry Potter 5 Movie.
Was this the one Top Gear raced round in the tunnels beneath?
There’s an ep of Well There’s Your Problem pod about this building, worth a listen.

A great example of Stalinist architecture outside of Russia.
This picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s the second largest administrative building in the world, only behind the Pentagon.
Reminds me of those insane concepts by [Étienne-Louis Boullée](https://youtu.be/FXVjZ8AhvTc?si=cvre3UBX2nQm8SIK).
Second largest building in the world after the Pentagon, I believe

Also it doesn’t have AC because it would’ve been hella expensive
How much of it is actually used?
I took a tour of it a few years back. They had set times that people were supposed to go in and they made everyone cram into a small room to wait. The juxtaposition of sitting in the smallest waiting room in the world to see one of the biggest buildings in the world was very eastern Europe.
[this youtube video](https://youtu.be/Uln3oINe6Kc?si=Unz5fVBrWbSy0wvc) explains a lot about this evil building!

The former presidential palace of Nicolae Ceaușescu, who like most dictators to put it mildly was a bit mental.
It used to be ceasescu’s house
They’re pretty good at building castles too! Beautiful country.
My company opened offices in Romania last year. I’ve been trying to work out an excuse to go there ever since. No luck so far hopefully next summer.
Bond villain shit
Once was in Bukarest for and had the stupid idea to walk around the parliament in the evening
Need lot of rooms for all that corruption /s
Can we get a quote to power wash this place?
It looks even more insanely huge when you go there IRL. This looks like nothing in comparison.
Wawaweewow
On the outside, yes! Bloddy Stupid Johnson was the architect of it!
I think the building was actually never finished.
Causescu?
As you might imagine, vampires need significant governance.
it looks uninhabited.
It has to be massive. They had to rule the whole empire.
The palace of the dictator Nicole ceausescu. My understanding is the construction put Romania into deep debt and forced sever austerity measures which eventually fueled his being overthrown and executed by firing squad on christmas
For a hilarious and educational podcast episode about this, see: [Well There’s Your Problem](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eebcm9GAMf4).
Saw Bon jovi play there – was awesome
Massive and full of shit human beings.
Imagine a game of hide and seek in that.
no one knows how many rooms it has
The guy who had it built must have been really cool 😃
Never seen this building before – surprised it’s never been used in movies as a stand-in for someone’s palace.
When you find out it was their former dictator’s private residence…..it becomes even crazier.
This was once Ceausescu’s personal house. What the fuck…
Like the corruption
Whenever I see pictures of this palace, I can’t help but being reminded of what a gigantic knobhead Ceaușescu must have been.
