>West Point, 1830. A world-weary detective (Bale) is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case — a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe (Melling).
I love that Robert Duvall is still active. He takes very small parts, but those small parts are typically very memorable. I realize it isn’t a recent example, but his 5 or 10 minutes of screen time in 2009’s “The Road” was one of the highlights of that movie.
Scott Cooper may be one of the most consistent directors in terms of quality. I think its part of the reason this is Bales 3rd film with him. He obviously trusts him.
Definitely interested and this looks awesome, but have yet to see a successful movie with Edgar Allen Poe as a character and there have been quite a few. Hope this breaks the mold.
Poe is well known for his horror work, but not as commonly known these days for helping invent/advance the detective story genre. So this horror-detective story seems perfect for a movie about him.

Huh, I was expecting it to be somewhat bland and boring, but it looks pretty atmospheric. Feeling optimistic
Hope this does well and movies like this make a resurgence
Seeing Bale dressed like that gives me Prestige vibes
Great tone, great actors, great music. Fuck it, I’m in.
When?
I know it wasn’t filmed there, but having worked at West Point, I’ve always thought it would make a great setting for a movie like this.
Cannot wait for this film. It looks fantastic.
Weird, this looks like a good netflix movie.
always love seeing gillian anderson pop up in stuff.
Okay, Melling as Poe is perfect casting.
What a stacked cast.
Was expecting a blue eyes white dragon
And Robert Duvall?
This is like True Detective 1838, and I’m here for it.
This may sounds completely out of the left field, but a feel a strong vibe of Umberco Eco The Name of The Rose.
Sleepy Hollow 2022 minus gadgets
Fucking Brrrrrrrrr. chilly film
I’m getting Bloodborne vibes because I recently started a replay of it.
I LOVE this sort of vibe. Creepy detective shit is my jam. Looking forward to this.

Dudley has been crushing it
i assume that Bale’s character ends up inspiring Poe to create Inspector C. Auguste Daupin
Reminds me of Ravenous and a book I read, can’t remember which.
I’m obsessed with the career revival of Dudley Dursley.
Bale + Cooper = epic
The Bale Blue Eye

Loveee the entire vibe of this!
Just truly sells the atmosphere. Cant wait! But Ill watch anything with Christian Bale.
i read this book in college and actually met the author, he signed my copy. excited for this adaptation
Fun fact he had to wear contacts for this movie. The pale brown eye didn’t have the same ring to it

The bale blue eye?

Bearded Bale = Best Bale
Christian bale will be in anything, he doesn’t give a shit about the drama about Netflix from Hollywood directors
The Bale Blue Eye. Looks fucking fantastic.
It’s great to see Jack “Cowboy” Kelly and Joseph Pulitzer together again
Harry Melling is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. Him breaking free from Harry Potter shows some real talent
A good addition the “Snow Cop” genre.
This is a 72 million dollar budget :O
>aerial shot of dead trees
Occult, murder mystery, Bale, Poe, Upstate New York. Dammit I’m in.
Linger on.
RemindMe! January 6 2023
I hadn’t heard about this one, and now it’s a must watch!
