  • Gosh I love this show

Obviously like Star Trek with more jokes

I just never imagined how serious, suspenseful and philosophically challenging for the characters it can be

Also I love how a few jokes here and there may become a huge plot point, specifically the gay Moclons

  • I’m currently making my way through the first season because reddit will literally not shut up about it every time I say I liked Star Trek: Discovery. I feel so far it’s like…80 Percent to where I want it to be. It’ll be super interesting and well plotted, and then steer itself into a wall with a Family Guy-esq joke.

The good news is that those are so few and far between that I forget they’re there. The Bad news is that they’re so few and far between it feels really out of place when it does happen.

The good out weighs the bad, especially in an episode like About a Girl, which is a mature and nuanced take about children and different societies, with an ending that isn’t the easy obvious way out.

  • The episode where a virus turns everyone into Cronenberg creatures in a matter of hours, boy was that dumb. Wow, our rifle weapons are super effective in killing these things, but in the end, oh you guys can just go, its ok that you take with you all the knowledge you gained by being in the ~~federation~~ union. Reminded me of Identity Crisis, where a virus Geordi turns into an alien.
