In France, property tax was based on the foundational space, so people always the built base smaller the rest of the stories, giving you these funky looking homes.
Looks like the opening scene of a Tim Burton film.
Looks like a render
all those years and they can’t get a picture on a sunny day?
Looks like the original vampire owner still lives there.
where can we find it ??
It’s called La Maison de Jeanne in Aveyron. [Here is a picture of it with a less scary/dramatic background.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtefactPorn/comments/q5524w/la_maison_de_jeanne_possibly_the_oldest_house_in/)
It should be noted that it was recently, um… [“restored”](https://www.connexionfrance.com/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.connexionfrance.com%2Fvar%2Fconnexion%2Fstorage%2Fimages%2Fmedia%2Fimages%2Fext__rieur_1_w2000-1%2F1789222-1-eng-GB%2Fext__rieur_1_w2000-1.jpg&w=1920&q=75).
There’s a dude who lives in there that was just looking for cheap rent and is getting really sick of using a chamber pot to go to the bathroom and wonders why nobody is talking about the increasing price of candles
I thought this was a Witcher 3 post lol. They really nailed the architecture in that game.
Needs more filters to show its age.

Imagine how many farts have been farted within those walls over its hundreds of years of lifetime.
Looks like it’s out of Dark Souls
It’s been disgraced by that ugly asphalt road
Looks like Nockturn Alley
Looks like a houses from Dragon Hunter.
What a miserable hovel. I wonder how many buckets of shit have been emptied out of the upstairs windows?
It somehow reminds me of Resident Evil.
3.5M — no low ball offers. I know what I got.
Nicest home in fr🤮nce
Not the oldest house in France.
A quick Google search will give you 51 Rue Montmorency, Paris (1407), for instance.
Then there are plenty of churches and castles that are older, like Notee Dame (dedicated in 1189).
And you have Maison Carreé in Nîmes, which is a well-peeserved Roman temple from the year 2.

It has been renovated since
That’s not really impressive if true, in Germany you will find houses from the 1200s.
It’s just standing there menacingly, sir, since 1478
It looks so menacing with those dark rain clouds
Why does this post say it’s from 1478 when another post i just saw says it’s from 1323?
I’d love to see pics of the interior.
Also, just imagine if there was a list of past owners. That would be something neat to read.
This picture is mesmerizing
Not a loved one how it looks 😄
This is just dragons dogma
Don’t tell Americans
Weird, my dad’s house was built in the 1500’s (the deed is on velum with seals) sold after his death.
My mothers house is medieval, from sometime in the 1400’s it’s timber framed, lath and plaster, it has a basement but no foundation. She still lives in it, it had been standing empty for 80 years when she bought it.
It has a door at the back, only been in it once that contains the original turntable for the coaching inn that used to be down the street and over the corner in front of the church.
I never realised France was so underdeveloped.
Edit: this is in the Midlands in the UK, the houses were/are 40 mins apart by car.
I bet it smells terrible inside.
Pretty sure this house is in Fable 2 or 3.
Not the oldest by a long way.
Witcher 3 triss’s house, anyone ?
There are many buildings much older than that.
Where’s the fat American tourist that decides it’s a hazard to leave it like his so he hefts all of his gut to tip it over?
photographers gotta chill with the dramatic “moody” edits
That’s so cool
Bring out your dead!
Don’t sneeze within 500ft
