The Nerf football was invented by former Minnesota Vikings kicker Fred Cox. Here he is in Sept 1997 photo, holding his original Nerf football, among his other souvenir balls, in Monticello, Minnesota.

Bringing up memories of my Nerf Turbo whistle ball. Had a lot of fun with these things
Not an American football fan. What’s the difference in the balls?
It’s Nerf or nothing!
I thought it was Dave from Wendy’s.
Man if the Vikes had won a Super Bowl maybe we wouldn’t have nerf footballs
Thats not Fred Cox, thats Dave Thomas, founder of Wendys.
Man, this guy’s got balls.
He used to be my chiropractor
He gots some balls on him!
“I just wanted something that wouldn’t hurt my foot when I was kicking sportsgoals” -Fred Nerf
do you think the ball nerf was originally just his name spelled backwards?
Bro started wendys
R. I. P. Fred, he died four years ago this week at age 80.
That’s not a nerf football. Every one I’ve ever seen has a bite taken out of it by a dog.
Should have named the company Cox Balls.
As kid (late 70s-80s) the nerf football just seemed like such an exclusive novelty. We had them at school but having one at home (especially the soccerball) made you feel really special. And they got used a lot to the point where they points were worn down and the they were falling apart into dust.
Now they, and the knockoffs are just everywhere… My son doesn’t even like sports and we’ve got like a dozen.
Here he is in Sept 1997 photo, holding his …balls, in Monticello, Minnesota. I find it funny that journalism can manipulate words this way.
Explains why we’re cursed with kickers. Dude made a deal with the devil.
He’s got a lot of balls
Another photo of cox n balls.
This guy handles balls well.
