If it helps, draw up a chore board with expectations for daily, weekly and monthly tasks. Whatever works for you, but dont just ignore it and expect your partner to know exactly what you want as everyone has their own limits for acceptable living.
My friend went to his first Medicare physical and one of the questions they asked him was “Do you have any trouble bending over all the way, like to pick up clothes on the floor? ” and he said “No, my wife does that”. The nurse asked if he really wanted that answer in his file and he of course told her yes.
One time I lived with my sister and I’m not a dirty guy but I’m not gonna clean something until it’s dirty so I’d clean the floors and all that stuff and I’d keep an eye out on the toilet because it needed to be cleaned eventually but it was always nice and bright white. Months go on and it was still clean so I became proud of my clean toilet that I never had to touch. Then a coworker was telling me a story that involved her cleaning her toilet and I bragged about my toilet that never had to be cleaned like it was magical. She then asked if I lived with a woman and I said yeah my sister and then she started laughing and told me my sisters been cleaning the toilet. I was in shock lol
I live in a small condo where we don’t have a management company and take care of our own stuff. This is how my neighbor thinks the grass gets cut and the driveway and walkways get cleared.
Not to take away from the funny but. This is exactly why you need to not pick up after your kids all the time. I see so many parents shelter their kids to the point where the kids never even see the parents clean or do any “adulting”.
