They were never bad, imho. Started out a great pop interpreter of other’s songs, then turned out to be great songwriters of their own, in particular Mike Nesmith.
The ultimate in cool. Peter Tork had the best looks but they all always looked amazing. Also so many fantastic songs… Door Into Summer, Porpoise Song, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Someday Man a few of my top favourites. The TV show reruns when I was a kid implanted them in my subconscious but I’m so glad I gave them a proper listen when older.
Lol! Which camera?
Edit: I’m team Mickey!!
These guys were the real deal
“Eww! You like the Monkees!? That’s not even Michael Nesmith’s real hat!”
Here we come…walking down the street …
We get the funniest looks from everyone we meet……
Peter was my favorite. Dave seemed like a prick.
Underrated band, Sometime in The Morning is my favorite song!
Hey hey!
Man, I love the Monkees! As we go along is the best sing to unwind to.
Davy
Neil Diamond wrote “I’m A Believer” and Carole King co-wrote “Pleasant Valley Sunday”.
7 year old me loved the nick at night reruns. Current me is worried to see it again…
It makes me sad sometimes, to think of Micky all alone, the last Monkee. The same way that one day soon Paul or Ringo will be the last Beatle.
It’s the timpani pancho.
Wow, they manage to tag every single outgroup at high school during that era. How could they not succeed!!!!
Mike: “So… are we supposed to be The Beatles?”
Mickey: “I’m not sure, Mike. I think you’re supposed to be Graham Nash.”
Peter: “Am I Mark Arm?”
Mickey: Yes, Peter, but Mudhoney won’t form for another twenty years so let’s not play the grunge card just yet.”
Davy: “Then I’m Paul McCartney!”
Peter and Mike: “FUCK YOU, MAN!”
Mickey (to himself): “Glad I didn’t say I was Bob Dylan.”
Poor Micky is all alone now….
Love these guys, grew up watching taped reruns of the shows that my mom had, absolutely hilarious and I love their music.
Mr. Dobelina, Mr. Bob Dobelina.
Mike was rich and just got richer during his life. Very smart guy, commercialised everything he could. His mother famously invented Liquid Paper.
This was photo was taken riiight after they saw her face.
omg weezer
I just realized I’ve accidentally named 2 of my
children after Monkees.
“Daily Nightly” is one of my favs!
Patient 0 for boy bands. We let them break containment and now we’ve lost Korea

Check out the “Wrecking Crew” documentary. Talks about how the WC musicians played the instruments on Monkees songs. Pretty interesting.

They’ve all taken the last train to Clarksville with the exception of Micky Dolenz – ♥️
Didn’t Nesmith’s mom invent white out?
I never heard The Monkees before, but their slot machine was my favorite!
I didn’t realize Michael Nesmith had died. Now I’m sad
Davy Jones 😢❤️
Reginald, Reginald Fairfield.
Didn’t they have a show on Nickelodeon? Or am I thinking about something else?
There goes salesman and he’s sailing high again..
I hadn’t realised that Davy Jones was so short.
