Yesterday I was reading a Carl Perkins biography and it went into a few stories about Cash. He was a little more destructive and outlandish than I previously thought. He abused pills and did some crazy stuff but his music was his true outlet.
I get sucked into a vortex on YouTube sometimes after a few drinks and I watch the old Johnny Cash Shows. He was amazing when he performed live.
I like to imagine a blue collar couple sitting in their humble home back in 1970 somewhere in middle America. A simpler time when a good weekly variety show was the evening’s entertainment.
Well that’s racist.
