âThe ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.â -Martin Luther King Jr.
And this one!
âI imagine you already know I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic⌠[Capitalism] started out with a noble and high motive, but like most human systems, it fell victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So capitalism has out-lived its usefulness.â -Martin Luther King Jr.
Why is this important? Because people are idiots. A black and white picture evokes thoughts of the turn of the 20th century â Wright brothers test flying a plane, people dancing the Charleston.
MLK and the civil right movement was much more recent.
Itâs crazy to think that in the last 250 years or so of American history, the equal rights movement happened only within the last 50. âColoredâ water fountains, back of the bus, not being able to get served at some restaurantsâŚeven not being able to walk on the same side of the street. MLK wasnât starting a revolutionâŚ.he sadly had to fight for just getting us to an equal level.
Showing him in color?.. why is that so important?..
I know it might make it feel more ârealâ to some people who donât like any type of critical thinking, but what does the color add other than making it seem more recent?
So we can see the color of his skin?..
Iâve just literally *never* heard someone say historical pictures are somehow âmore importantâ if in color. Like weâre incapable of seeing people in photos as people if the image doesnât have color. Which is just stupid.
Just about everything else of importance is shown in color from that time. Nearly all journalist film had made the switch to color almost a decade preceding those events
I think itâs important to show MLK in color because it helps to humanize him and show that he was a real person with real experiences. It also helps to dispel any myths or stereotypes that may still exist about him.
Yeah it was a pretty effective trick l, presenting MLK in black and white. Color photography existed in the 60s, but putting it in black and white tricks people into thinking itâs been longer than that. To clarify, yes it is true that colour photography was more expensive at the time, so most photographers and news papers opted for black and white. However, we CAN colorize these photos now, and they SHOULD be colorized. Both for accuracy of representation, and to combat the notion that it wasnât within recent history

Why is it important to show MLK in color?
Someone got the bejeweled clout glasses
Why is it important?
Itâs really not that important. Maybe just teach people when colour photography became the norm?
Itâs important that OP milks this holiday for sweet karma
Wasnt the whole point of his idea to not put emphasis on color?
A quote that has resonated with me is this one,
âThe ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.â -Martin Luther King Jr.

I got these from here: [http://www.pb-resources.com/mlk](http://www.pb-resources.com/mlk)
Iâm more concerned with the content of his character.
Omg heâs black?!?!?
In the thumbnail I legit thought the woman on the right had googly eyes.
Fun fact: MLK Jr, Anne Frank and Barbara Walters were all born in the same year.
The lady in the background had awesome glasses.
Wait? He was black?
He was black?!?
Those googly eyes tho
Heâs black?!
Holy shit heâs black??

Great photo. The sunglasses in the back tho. đ
If you make a post titled âthe importance ofâŚâ you should also explain why itâs important.
Just about everything else of importance is shown in color from that time. Nearly all journalist film had made the switch to color almost a decade preceding those events
A lot of people learning that MLK is black today. Great post by OP to show that he wasnât native American like most thought. /s
Wait woah woah woah⌠MLK was BLACK?!?
Yooo you canât say âcolorâ anymore sheeesh
Seems like black and white worked tooâŚ

These comments are a fucking disgrace.
