I love the sound of their voices through those mics. Not sure we have done anything technologically in 50 years to surpass the warmth and energy from those old mics. (I also don’t know what I’m talking about and this is just my opinion). And that keyboard player has some fucking pipes too!
Saw them a few years ago at the now defunct BB King’s in NYC. 50th anniversary stuff and it was amazing. Carmine is one of my fave drummers of all time and he still brings it.
This song got big just as I was finding my own music – 1st or second grade. It would be 5 or more years before I learned it was a cover – even though I had heard the Supremes’ version as many times!
I saw them when I was a teen. I was sure they were gonna be lame, but I went to all the concerts I could get free tickets to. The place was packed and I made my way up front. As soon as they started, I looked up and an entire friggin organ was coming right at me. Right before it slammed into my head, it popped right back up. Never saw someone handle an organ like that before. Insane.
I hadn’t heard this in so long. I recall a certain friendly young lady dancing very very closely with this, full prom hang with dry humping, after the teacher monitors had given up and you had to wade through a sea of pheromones. That sequence after about 3 minutes accompanied an enthusiastic lip lock. Must have made an impression for me to remember it!

Is he using a double kick?
MOD worker: One blue crushed velvet suit.
Austin Powers: All right.
MOD worker: One frilly lace cravat.
Austin Powers: There it is.
MOD worker: One silver chain with male symbol.
MOD worker: One pair of Italian leather boots.
Austin Powers: Bonjourno Boys.
Man, Vanilla fudge could do covers like few others. How you take a [Supremes song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjXiRN4I434&ab_channel=TheSupremesArchive) and come out with this?.. its superb.

OP, I’m strangely nostalgic over your use of “heaviest”. Don’t think I’ve heard it used like that since I was a kid in the early 70s. 😄👍
And another great performance I’d not seen. Thanks for sharing it. ✌🙂
My wife and I became obsessed with this song after it featured in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.
As a big fan of heavy music it blew me away how hard these frilly blokes were going in 1967/8!
Drummers charisma and energy is astonishing
Call Dr. Ioconis, I should get a 60 day supply of…
Nice song but these guys are so far up their own arses. Dear lord.
Many people watching this when it was originally broadcast were hearing the sound over a 3″ speaker.
First album Judas Priest is a close second.
Fucking hell!
The Hammond organ was absolutely thrashing. Used to take the back off and experiment with all the sounds you could produce.
Holy ascots, Batman! These guys put the crush in crushed velvet!
They don’t look that heavy to me
What a fuckin’ banger!!!
[Here’s their 2002 version.](https://youtu.be/H7HrZjh_ESg)
Bonus: [I want it that way](https://youtu.be/4oD_SvkDxls) cover.
Wow. The energy is a lot closer to the [slowed down version of the chipmunks cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlBV0JRUCzU) than I’d expected.
drugs are a hell of a drug
That’s some coke energy
That drummer fucks

That bassist is nightmare fuel. He’s like a demonic Ned Flanders.

Brings back memories/ flashbacks. White Mesc and blotter.
I used to love these guys. Any newer music?
This was my junior year of high school
Meh. World’s loudest wedding band.

Those flat screens are trippy.
