I like how you tried to make certain publishes look a booger then they are to match bigger companies. Epic Games, just put all the offices they have but you didn’t do it for other ones.
It’s crazy that Konami is not a conglomerate like 99% of these other companies
In fact, Konami’s path to success is unlike the other companies. Bandai once held the Yugioh license but opted to not retain when Konami swooped in and bought the Yugioh license in 1998. Today, Yugioh is a brand worth $25 billion and the majority of Konami’s revenue.
The companies are not sized accordingly. Each bubble should be representative of the total revenue made for that specific division.
There’s no way to tell from this which company owns more. Like, if I own 100 companies that all make $1 each, and someone else owns one company that makes $200, then the other person owns more than I do.
In other words… it doesn’t exactly paint the best picture and it’s just confusing to look at.
How did you decide the size of the blobs? Normally you would go by market share or value but Activision blizard and bungie are basically the same size.
Also kinda weird to go with microsoft gaming but all of sony interactive entertainement
A better graph would be just the parent company with the size proportionnate to value. There is to much uneven empty spaces and divisions to have a real image here.
Edit: op used employee counts… so some.parent companies habe less employees than the child company? Yeah this doesnt make sense at all. Bungie has only about 900 employees but is as big as activision wich has more than 4000 employees?
I understand why you didn’t link game freak and nintendo, but it seems like you should have added The Pokemon Company to the list (which is jointly owned by Game Freak, Nintendo, and Creatures) to make the relationship between them clearer.
Same thing with HAL Laboratories and Warpstar, Inc.
So the gaming industry is secretly a slice of pizza.
Does the coloration have any significance in this chart?
someone please explain what the ABK deal is like I’m five
Looks like a bacterial culture.

i love how valve just sit there with a single blob and yet almost everyone with a console / pc has played one of there games at least once

A table with this information along with the key IPs for each studio would be super useful.
This is what I imagine a clowns crotch to look like

Actually way better than I thought. The way it seems is like 5 or 6 publishers own everything but that’s actually a lot of variety
There is so much going on that this doesn’t seem like much of a change to the industry as a whole.
since when is fromsoft a sony studio?
Valve and Unity in the middle holding the existence of half of the others is quite funny
Valve just chinning solo in the corner at the party.
Embracer will most likely go bankrupt in a few years, or atleast be waaaay smaller in terms of size…
Wait, is From Software really owned by Sony? Dont they publish exclusively on Bandai Namco?
Missing snailgames. Who owns an insane amount of the phone game market but also own very well known computer games like ark survival.
What does the size of the circle represent
This is an impressive map. Well done.
Tencent and Embracer have like 30 other divisions meanwhile valve stands alone
Can anyone tell me how this is any different from before so I can complain/rejoice accordingly?
What was used to make this? What data sources did you use?
Some help, does still BioWare exist?
Very interesting chart.
Would be cool if it could be sized by revenue…. Oh GOD WHY IS IT ALL TENCENT NOW!?!
This graph seems a bit misleading.

This graph makes Sony bigger than they should, and Embracer/Tencent smaller than they are

What am I supposed to be looking at here?
Doesn’t Tencent essentially own Epic Games and Unreal Engine? This chart is misleading
Why arent the parent blobs the sum of the area of the children? This makes no sense
Where is the Pokémon company in Nintendo?
There should be a line between Tencent and Voodoo with like 30%
Did Nintendo BUY Monolith software?
I only ask because I never knew they bought them outright.
I love how Valve is just ‘Valve’ 😊
What a terrible way to try and convey this info
Microcock has so many studios… But where are the games??? Man I miss the good old Xbox 360 days
FUCK embracer group.
