Can’t tell from the trailer if this will be amazing or terrible, but I would watch Viola Davis read the phone book. And Michelle Pfeiffer is always captivating.
Showtime is one of those channels that was nice to have when bundled with the HBO cable add-on, but absolutely not worth it as a paid standalone subscription. Who is their subscriber base?
I don’t usually get uncanny valley vibes from like CG characters, but for some reason Viola Davis made up as Michelle Obama is really breaking reality for me.
overall I thought obama presidency was ok (considering no presidency is perfect) but I’m not sure there’s anything THAT interesting about Michelle that would make me want to spend hours looking closer at her life. I do think that being the first African American first lady was a pretty historic moment. If anything though, would prefer more of a real documentary than a scripted series
The First Lady castings are mostly great I see no way they can put enough make on Gillian Anderson to make her a convincing Eleanor Roosevelt. Eleanor Roosevelt was legendarily ugly.
Also the casting of the presidents is terrible beyond words.
Wish they would remake “Backstairs at the Whitehouse” miniseries. It was the “Downton Abbey” of its time.
Now that I think of it, wonder why those old miniseries haven’t been mined yet. I mean “Roots” would be a great limited run series or “North and South”.

Doesn’t have a release date on it, if anyone was wondering.

I will probably check this out.
Everyone looks the part except FDR.
