This is fking insane. I guess if your options are burn to death or jump – I’m jumping. But fk. I’d obviously hold out as long as possible.
Tragic
Based on Wikipedia, it’s most likely to be Jonathan Briley.

have some fkin respect
The fact that *[he’s suspected to be] the brother of a band member in the village people just makes the world feel really small for some reason
Edit for facts
[Here’s](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0810746/) the documentary made on this.
There is a video from inside the lobby. Someone who was with firefighters. You can hear just crash after crash and one of them points out its people.
I always wondered if his body was ever found.
I mean, probably right? But no photo ever surfaced or even a confirmation who the guy was
Such a fucking horrible choice to have to make
This photo is so hard to view; however, it refrains our conditioned minds away from our daily lives. This reminds us of how tragic the world can me. How a desperate person might act when faced with a life ending event. The photo is hard to view, because it’s real. It happened. We’re now faced with having to wrap our minds around this image as we continue living. No word can summarize how this makes me feel. Only that it’s a lot to process and influences how I value the precious moments of life.
I remember this photo like yesterday and i am not even an american
However, i do think this needs a NSFW tag.
It looks like “the hanged man” tarot card.
Wearing a Chef’s outfit, likely from the restaurant that was up there.

I often think about how one day there will be precise technology that will be able to zoom in and make out the jumpers’ facial features. Idk if that’s a good thing or bad.
This article by Tom Junod for Esquire really is unforgettable, and I think it’s one of the best magazine articles ever printed: [https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a48031/the-falling-man-tom-junod/](https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a48031/the-falling-man-tom-junod/)
I heard the photographer speak on this photo. It is just a millisecond in time. The poor man was tumbling through the air, not falling head down the whole way.
This photo and others of people falling or jumping were what scarred and impacted me most. They didn’t surface until many years later…. which is probably for my and other people’s “rational” reaction to that day.
It was horrible watching it live on TV then…can’t believe it’s 21+ ya
I’m sure some ‘jumpers’ were just trying to climb to another floor to escape the flames. Horrible way to go.
