The Everybodyfields — T.V.A. [Folk/Bluegrass] (2004)

  • Holy shit. I never thought I’d see this band on Reddit, or anywhere else for that matter. I was in high school when they released their three albums. I was lucky enough to see them many times and meet them a handful of times. They had family in my hometown and played there often. Last time I saw them was at Bonnarroo 2008.

They were a massive influence on the type of music I consumed and my tastes. Even through til today. I remember seeing them after a show and an audience member gifting Sam a copy of The Band’s Music From Big Pink. What a world that opened for me.

I have a lot of pride about my home in Eastern Kentucky. It’s a flawed, manipulated, often disregarded place, but there are many, many things to love about it. The immensely rich musical traditions is definitely one of those things.

Thank you so much for posting this and for the wave of warm nostalgia. Feels good.

  • This was one of the best moments of my life; looking back on it: Sitting on the back patio of the Halo bar in Johnson City under the stars; holding hands with my beloved as we sipped beers and watched the Everybodyfields play most of these songs. After their set, we went up to them and I bought this cd right out of Sam’s hands.

What a flood of memory from just a song!
