This looks so surreal I thought it was CGI or unreal engine 5 or something lol
Very nice picture though.
Imagine how magical the wedding photos would be.
[This is the church](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Edward%27s_Church,_Stow-on-the-Wold), for anyone interested
Speak friend and enter
It’s called “*the Cosplayer Magnet*”.
I feel like the only responses possible to this picture are “that looks exactly like my local church” or that looks straight from fantasy and cannot possibly exist”
I’ve been there, and is (I don’t know how true the story is) Tolkein’s inspiration for the doors to the mines of Moria
I feel sad when I think we don’t built things with such a delicate aesthetic today
Just out of interest.. almost every country churchyard in England has a mature yew tree growing near the entrance
I’m an atheist, but I think I’d go to church occasionally if this was my local church, just to have an excuse to walk through those doors.
I smell Pagans.
Speak, Friend, then enter
To think 200-300 years ago the trees were little sticks a few feet away from the wall. Would have looked really neat.
Obviously looks awesome now but doubt the person planting them was thinking that far ahead.
I like to enter the church to get into some fantasy world
It’s the st edwards church in Cotswold England.
I recognized it. We stayed in this town for four nights on a trip last April. Stow on the Wold, in the Cotswolds.
“Would it not be cute to plant those tiny plants on both sides of the door?”
The trees on either side are Yew’s or *Taxus*
If I don’t get a quest chain the moment I arrive there…
But no shrubberies??
Love it. Many things are quintessentially English. This photo illustrates that perfectly imo. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve been there too! The vicar was really nice ! Their library is also amazing; they have several books about the local history, which is fascinating. Lovely village.
How do they deal with roots fucking with the foundation?
That’s a doorway to Narnia. Don’t lie to me.

I was like “this door must be at least 100 years old, maybe 200 ?” Answer is 700. Oof.
What is this? A church for hobbits?
Entrance guarded by two ents.
These look like the yew trees, associated in druidic folklore with death and winter solstice. Very commonly found in graveyards in the UK.
Also a very long lived tree, multiple living specimens believed to be 4-5000 years old.
ETA dunno if ‘druidic folklore’ is the right phrase, I’m more of a tree guy
YOUUUUUUUU SSSSSSHHAAAAAAAALLLLL NNNNNNOOOOTTTTTT PPPPPPPAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS
Speak friend and enter…
What spell opens the doors?
I wanna pressure wash that so bad
Been there, it’s quite amazing. The whole of the Cotswolds are beautiful.
FUNFACT! I think this is the door to the church Tolkien based the door to the mines of Moria on! I’ve been here a couple years ago with my mum and it should have a sign inside the church explaining
